Galway walking tour with Jerry
My husband and I are on an eight-day CIE tour and spent the afternoon today in Galway city center. Our driver/guide put us in JERRY’S hands for an hour or so. JERRY was amazing: funny, flexible, and full of interesting history. He is a great storyteller and gave a spot on recommendation for lunch (McDonough’s). So, if you’re visiting Galway and book with Athas, you must request JERRY!
Response from the operator: Hi there Gary here, Athas Tours, not Gerry; it was me you had lol. Gerry/Jerry is too popular of a guide name! What a great review! I love my home town and love talking about it to guests like yourself. I love doing what I do, so it is never a chore. It is all the easier when I get to meet fantastic folk who do us all the honour of visiting Ireland. Go neiri an bothar leat mo chara! Gary

A Great Intro to Galway
This tour was included in the CIE Pub Tour my wife and I took. We met our guide, Brian Nolan, outside O’Connell’s Pub, where we sampled a pint before we set off to explore the City Brian loves and is native to. He brought us Eyre Square where JFK gave a speech in June 1963. He then took us through the Latin Quarter and then down to the river. He has a great sense of humor and depth of knowledge about his birthplace. A wonderful experience I would highly recommend as a starting point before exploring the lovely town of Galway on your own.
Response from the operator: Hi there I believe this was meant for Brian, not my tour, Athas Tours Galway. I will gladly accept a 5 star review any day, but maybe delete this and find his website thanks! Gary

Great tour, small group, lots of local history and knowledge delivered at a great pace and with lots of laughs. Gary was fab
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for this great review Andy, I couldn't ask for better! I try to keep a good energy going during the tour and have some 'Craic' mixed in with the history and facts along the way. May the road rise before you. Gary

Great Overview Tour
Our guide Gary was wonderful- so much great information about Galway and gave a great overview of the city. He was very accommodating as well- easy to communicate and adjust the time. Highly recommend this tour!
Response from the operator: Hi Lisa Thank you for this great review. One thing I do like to be is as flexible as possible. I realise that visitors like you keep me in a living and I am very grateful for that. Wishing you, your family and my many American guests over the years a very happy 250th anniversary, too! Gary.

Galwsy Tour Guide zJason
Jason’s exceptional job was evident in his incredibly friendly, interesting, knowledgeable, and skilled communication of Galway’s history and its connection to the homelands of the tour participants. KB
Response from the operator: Hi there KB. This is the second great review I have received for Jason But he is a different tour. Please check and see if you can review the correct business. Thanks!

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Galway City Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Galway.
How much does Galway City Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $23 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Galway usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Galway City Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Galway is not rushed.
Is Galway City Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 101 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Galway, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Galway City Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Galway City Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Galway City Walking Tour?
+
Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Galway can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Galway and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Galway City Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Galway within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Galway?
+
On Outty we rank every Galway experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cliffs of Moher & the Burren Tour from Galway, Galway to Aran Islands Inisheer, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher Day Tour, Galway to Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Cave & Dunguaire Castle Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Galway?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Galway?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

Where is the meeting point for Galway City Walking Tour?
+
