What you'll see and do
Galveston Naval Museum
At the Galveston Naval Museum, you can step right into history while enjoying some of the best waterfront views in Galveston. Explore two real WWII vessels—the submarine USS Cavalla (SS-244), nicknamed the Lucky Lady, and the destroyer escort USS Stewart (DE-238), the Protector. You’ll walk the same decks sailors once did and get a hands-on feel for life at sea during wartime. Beyond these iconic ships, you’ll also see the sail of the USS Tautog (SSN-639) and the conning tower of the USS Carp (SS-338), both showcasing milestones in submarine technology and honoring the men who served beneath the waves. As you explore, take a moment to enjoy the sweeping views of Galveston Harbor—ships passing by, seabirds overhead, and the perfect backdrop for photos. Whether you’re a history buff, a family looking for a unique day out, or just someone who enjoys a great waterfront view, the museum offers a memorable experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Galveston Naval Museum Trip
My husband and I loved the trip at Navel Museum in Galveston. Very informative and very interesting. The price of the ticket is very reasonable. Our visit lasted about 11/2-2. hours. You could take your time and enjoy the visit.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your very kind review. We are so happy you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again soon.

Nice self tour
Very informative. Self tour was easy. If you have handicap tag or plate parking is free. You can see the cruises so close when they leave the port.
Response from the operator: We are happy you enjoyed your visit and look forward to seeing you again.

Fitness Experience
I’m not for sure if this would be a solo experience even though it was very interesting to see the torpedo and old navy ships and being in that atmosphere with others walking around, I would of preferred a tour guide such as navy officer or retired captain to walk us thru all those area in the ships and get a better understanding reading the materials was good, but having a guide who exactly lived on those types of of experiences is another thing makes it sureal ,but going thru those port holes definitely its not for the people who are claustrophobia or extremely obese , too talk like 6ft and over and definitely like me who has bad knees lol, a lot of bending won’t fit thru the tiny holes but it is definitely a site to see how our shoulders lived in those quarters
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review and for your visit. We do have volunteer docents from time to time, and our staff is always happy to answer any questions our guests may have. We are glad you enjoyed your visit.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Galveston.
How much does Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket cost?
+
Prices start at $14 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Galveston usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Galveston is not rushed.
Is Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Galveston, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Galveston can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Galveston and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Galveston Naval Museum Admission Ticket start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Galveston within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Galveston?
+
Galveston handles Houston's cruise traffic plus its own island tourism: Strand history walks, ghost tours, dolphin boats in the ship channel, harbour transfers and beach days. On Outty we rank every Galveston experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Historic Galveston Ghost Tour, Baywatch Dolphin Tours – Pier 21 Galveston, The Galveston Cemetery Tour - Walk With The Dead!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Galveston?
+
March to May and September to November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Galveston?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
