Among the funky delicacies you will get to try are the fermented shark, the dried fish, the heart-warming lamb soup, the famous hot dog and more. You will learn about what kind of foods have been the staple of Icelandic cuisine, how Icelanders have preserved foods through the ages, and learn about some food-related traditions. Funky Food and Beer Walk is a good time!
Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland. Lalli is a very engaging guide, knowledgeable about all things Iceland. Getting a literal taste of the city along with some historical context made the experience a blast. Well worth half a day. Check it out.

Fun & Delicious!

Fantastic Food Tour – A Highlight of My Time in Reykjavik
I had an amazing experience on the Funky Food & Beer Walk of Reykjavik! I happened to be the only person booked on my tour, which made it a really fun and personalized experience, but I can easily see how it would also be fantastic with a group. My guide, Lalli, was incredibly knowledgeable about Icelandic food, culture, and history, and he delivered everything with a great sense of humor. The tour balanced learning about local traditions with enjoying great food and drink around the city. He also oriented and recommended so many other places to visit in the city. Perfect for starting a trip in Reykjavik! One of the highlights was getting to try the infamous fermented shark, which is absolutely worth the experience if you’re curious about traditional foods. We also compared different preparation styles of Icelandic bread and talked about how these traditions developed over time. We also tried modern interpretations of classics like fish and chips, which was a fun contrast to the more traditional dishes. The value was excellent for the price. There was honestly more food than I could finish! It’s a great way to try a wide range of Icelandic dishes that you might not think to order on your own. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Reykjavik, especially if you’re looking for a fun way to immerse yourself in local customs, cuisine, and the history of the city!

Great tour and guide!
Lalli was an excellent tour guide. He was born and raised there and comes from a nine century family. He knows the history, he's fun and easy to talk to. The tour was outstanding! We tasted everything from where the local's get fish and chips to the dreaded fermented shark (I'm glad I did it, but would not ever again - lol). I hope I get a chance to go back to Iceland and if I do I expect to look up Funky Iceland and take another tour.
