    About this experience

Enjoy a private food tour with your fun and knowledgeable host Martina. Your first food stop will an Italian bakery where you will taste savory or sweet baked goods. Next, explore the Sant’Ambrogio market. Here you will not only discover a variety of typical Italian produce but also get an in-depth understanding of the way locals buy, eat and cook food. You will make 5 stops and try 5-6 different types of food. Your food tastings will be accompanied by up to 2 glasses of wine. The food market in Sant’Ambrogio is open everyday from Monday to Saturday from early morning until 2pm. It is closed in the evenings and on Sundays. For travelers that book this food tour in the afternoons or on Sundays, Martina will have you try the same food and drinks but at different locations (not at the market). You might even get to try coccolo, small balls of dough fried in olive oil and stuffed with prosciutto ham and a creamy fresh cheese called stracchino.

Florence Market and Food Tour with Martina

Martina is absolutely delightful, extremely knowledgeable, and we had the best time with her. We loved that the tour was in the Marcato Sant’Ambrogio, which was an authentic Florentine experience and less touristy than Marcato Centrale. Martina had great rapport with the market vendors, and the forno and trattoria owners, which made us feel extremely welcomed. Upon my request, we started with a stop at Sergio Pollini Lampredotto stand. While not for everyone, if you’re an adventurous eater, this is a must do! This is true Florence history in a sandwich and super delicious. From there we toured the market, bought some fresh produce, meats, cheeses, wine and figs and we ate at the market while having wonderful conversation with Martina. The next stop was a wonderful little trattoria where we tried two different types of freshly made pasta and tasted some excellent wine. We finished at a tasty gelato shop and then parted ways with a hug and an offer for Martina to call us when she comes to the US and we’ll give her a tour of one of the cities on her list!

Response from the operator: We are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your time with Martina. Her deep knowledge, warm personality, and wonderful connections with the market vendors and local spots always make the experience feel truly authentic. It sounds like your visit to Mercato Sant’Ambrogio, complete with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, wine, pasta, and gelato, gave you such a memorable taste of Florence. We love that you even began the day with a classic lampredotto sandwich, what a perfect way to dive into local tradition. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback and kind words about Martina. She will be delighted to know your time together was such a highlight.

    Perfect taste of Florence

Our tour guide, Martina, was the perfect mix of knowledge and great personality! Also, her selections of the local market and bistros were perfect. We would highly recommend Martina and the tour.

    Florence highlight!

By far the best thing we did in Italy! Learning about history and culture through food with Linda was an incredible experience. She is knowledgeable, fun, generous, and brilliant. Linda took me, my husband and my two adult children through the Florence market. We ate, we learned, we drank, and we laughed. We didn’t want it to end. Will not travel to Italy again without another experience with Linda. Cannot recommend highly enough!

    Florence Food Tour

Martina was excellent! All Our food stops and the central market were so good. Her local knowledge made the tour that much better.

    Wonderful Experience

This didn’t involve the Duomo or the Baptistry or any other major tourist attractions (obviously if you read the description) BUT this was probably one of our favorite parts of the trip to Florence, and even Italy. We tried small tastes of multiple dishes from different small local restaurants and markets. Every local knew our guide (Martina) and it was amazing to live the real daily Florentine/Italian experience through her. And speaking of Martina, she was amazing! I swear we found a lost member of our family 🙂 Overall an amazing morning-early afternoon and even 3 hours isn’t enough since you won’t want it to end!

Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.

How much does Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina cost?

    +

Prices start at $109 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.

Is Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Fun Private Florence Food Tour with a Local Food Expert Martina start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Florence?

    +

On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Florence?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Florence?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
