Sultan Hassan School and Mosques: It is regarded as the pearl of Islamic architecture. Mosque of Muhammad Ali
After exploring the Islamic monuments of Cairo, stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Further on, proceed to the Citadel of Salah El Din. It was built by Salah El Din El Ayoubi in 1183 AD in the medieval castle style. The citadel comprises a number of important monuments including the Mosque of Soliman Pasha, the 90 metre deep Joseph’s well, the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali. The walls of the mosque are coated with alabaster and had gild-decorated crowns.

Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar
Further on, proceed to the Khan El Kahili Bazaar and El Sagha (jewellery shops). It is one of the earliest and greatest markets in the Middle East. Built in the 14th century, it has many stores exhibiting a wonderful collection of jewellery, wooden artefacts embossed with pearls, leather ware, embroidered dresses and a range of impressive souvenirs. After exploring the market, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Cairo.

Museum must-do with Mustafa
Very flexible on this tour for what we wanted to do – picked up from our hotel and taken to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation which was absolutely brilliant. Do not miss! Mustafa‘s information, friendliness, knowledge and excitement to share Egypt’s wonderful history from many perspectives with us made this truly an outstanding experience. Having a guide who is so keen and knowledgeable about Egyptian history is a must have for any tour you do in Egypt and this one is recommended.

A brilliant way to discover Cairo
What a brilliant trip. Mustafa, our guide, was an amazing companion to spend the day with - kind, friendly, fun and really interesting. His in-depth knowledge and fascinating insights as we toured all the various sites really brought the history alive and his description of how Islam has shaped Egypt was profound and intriguing. The whole tour was excellent and we really learned a huge amount and got to know Cairo in depth. The lunch was great too. We would highly recommend this tour as a must-do on any visit to Cairo - in many ways it proved a greater highlight than seeing the Pyramids. And if you are lucky enough to have Mustafa as your guide then you are in for a real treat.
