    About this experience

In the 19th century Zakopane was a sleepy village inhabited by the Mountain People who, living for years in isolation, had created their own and unique culture. The special atmosphere and wild beauty of this place was discovered by Dr Tytus Chałubiński, who started to send his patients there, appreciating the blessings of the nature. In a short time, artists and the cream of society announced Zakopane was their favourite place in Poland, where they rested, create their works of art and had love affairs… Now the city is visited by countless tourists who, wanting to experience tradition, very often complain about the “tacky face” of 21st-century Zakopane. Thus we decided to show our guests the face of “the winter capital of Poland” and its neighborhood which still expresses the charm of the past days and the beauty of unharmed nature.

    2. Zakopane

Visiting Zakopane is a great opportunity to get to know the wooden architecture of the Podhale highlanders, as well as see beautiful Zakopane-style villas, inspired by the folklore of this region. Unique examples of the Zakopane style are the villa Pod Jedlami and the charming chapel in Jaszczurówka, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz, the creator of the Zakopane style. In the vicinity of the famous Krupówki promenade in Zakopane, there is the magnificent building of the Tatra Museum devoted to the mountains. You can also find many churches and monasteries in Zakopane. However, most pilgrims go to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptówki, closely related to John Paul II. Using the funicular, we will go to the top of Gubałówka (1120 m above sea level). This picturesque mountain ridge emerges from the north of Zakopane, on the opposite side of the Giewont peak. We will also try what the famous highland sheep cheese "oscypek" tastes like.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
