so fun!

This was so fun and such an amazing experience! We loved all of it - the thermal pools, cave exploration (even though it was super hot), hot springs, and zip lining! Elias was super knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and accommodating. We appreciated his instructions, guidance, and tips. He was a great driver as well!

Excellent Experience

Amazing experience with Elias! He was attentive, professional and caring for our group. We had a group of 6 and had our own car with him! We started off with an authentic breakfast spot, stopped by a stall to grab water shoes/phone water protector case, and headed to the falls! Started with the big waterfalls and caves (would recommend bringing flashlight!), then went to the rivers and ended at the pools! Would highly recommend Elias’ tour!

Book through this link! Best tour guide ever! But bring cash.

Firstly Bring cash! This was something we were not prepared for. Almost everything was cash only including entrance to the pools. The trip was a nice change of scenery from the few days spent in Mexico City. The place is gorgeous and exactly like the photos! Elias was so kind and patient and spoke very good English. The pickup was scheduled for 5am and he unexpectedly was able to get us from our hotel which was a pleasant surprise. We stopped for breakfast at a nice little family roadside stop. It was very delicious and kept us going for the day. The drive was long but we slept most of the way. When we did wake up there was such nice views and cute little villages. Elias was very knowledgeable about the villages and the history’s of them. When we got to the pools we paid our entrance then got changed and spent 2 hours at the pools. They were naturally quite warm, especially the upper pools. It was very quiet when we first got there and it was nice. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The place only accepts cash so if you want a drink or snacks it’s all cash only. But if you have a metal reusable water bottle you can bring it inside. From there we went down to the river, which myself and my teen boys really enjoyed as well. If you brought snacks this would be a nice place to picnic as well. But alas we were unprepared. After this we did a short hike into two caves and a waterfall, one which is like a natural sauna, the other was more room temp and had a big waterfall in the middle coming from the roof of the cave. It was pretty cool! From here we went to a restaurant for lunch. Lucky they accepted card here and Elias made sure to check for us before we ordered. He was also sat near us so that he could help in case there was any miscommunication when ordering. It was so nice having him nearby if we needed anything, he was never pushy and just very chill. After our meal we continued our journey home. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this trip if I booked with anybody else. Elias really made the trip so comfortable and easy.

Full day Tolantongo Caves!: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.

How much does Full day Tolantongo Caves! cost?

+

Prices start at $1400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full day Tolantongo Caves! take?

+

Plan for about 12.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.

Is Full day Tolantongo Caves! worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 48 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full day Tolantongo Caves!?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full day Tolantongo Caves! suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Full day Tolantongo Caves!?

+

Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 12.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full day Tolantongo Caves! start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mexico City?

+

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
