About this experience

Our day starts with a visit to Paarl where you will be struck by the beauty of the Valley, the pristine blue sky, the rolling vineyards, and the Pearl of Paarl set high above the valley. Paarl made headlines when President Mandela was released from the Groot Drakenstein prison (formerly known as Victor Verster prison). We enjoy a wine tasting at one of the local estates. From Paarl, we'll continue north-west to the beautiful village of Franschhoek, founded in 1688 by French immigrants fleeing the Huguenot religious persecution in Europe. A memorial in the town commemorates the arrival of these early settlers who helped develop the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck, and royalty such as Edward VII, the Prince of Wales. Here we will stop for lunch and another wine tasting at a local vineyard. We'll then head to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and enjoy a final wine tasting before returning to Cape Town.

A dip into the wonderful world of South African wine

The experience was very smoothly offered and the itinerary was all we could have hoped for. Three very different wineries all charming and with beautiful surroundings. The tastings were interesting with a good coverage of what flavours to experience. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our driver and guide for the trip was very helpful, friendly and informative about the history of the wine estates and also about South African culture. A very enjoyable day and we can recommend wholeheartedly to others.

Response from the operator: Good Afternoon Thank you for taking the time and providing us with your feedback. We are thrilled to hear you had an enjoyable day in the winelands.

Disappointing and not as advertised

Disappointing. Billed as a three winery tour, we only visited 2. We were pressured into only visiting 2 by the guide. It was clear that there was insufficient time to visit 3 wine farms. The first farm was excellent. Well prepared, we were guided through the wines and given a tour. The second at Franschhoek was poor. We were seated at a table and given 3 wines, only 3 of which were described to us. This We should receive partial reimbursement since we only visited 2 of the 3 wineries. I would not recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Dear Peter Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear that the experience did not live up to expectations. We will therefore extend a 20% discount for the missed 3rd wine tasting. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Ivan! Ten stars!!

I wish I could give 10 stars. Extremely happy with the wine tasting tour and I don’t drink wine. Our guide Ivan was superb. He told us all about each area we drove through. The wine was a bonus.

Response from the operator: Good Morning Thank you for taking the time and providing us with your feedback. We will pass on your comments to the guide.

Wine Day Tour

A great day out visiting three fabulous wineries in Franschoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. They were very different experiences, Fairview our favourite, Eikenhof and Marianne also stunning. A great way to experience this if you only have a day

Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.

How much does Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $965 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.

Is Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 119 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour?

+

Around 42 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full Day Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl Winelands Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cape Town?

+

On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cape Town?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
