Not a trustworthy company
I cannot recommend African Eagle Day Tours based on my experience. To be fair, the airport pickup and airport transfer services were punctual and professional, and I have no complaints about those services. The problem was with the Wine Route Full Day tour that we took on May 11, 2026, during a major storm in the Cape Town area. Before the tour, I contacted African Eagle several times to ask whether the tour would still operate due to the weather conditions. Each time I was informed that the tour would proceed as scheduled. Unfortunately, the tour was a major disappointment. Significant portions of the advertised experience did not take place due to weather-related closures and disruptions. While I understand that the weather was beyond the company's control, I believe customers should be informed when a tour can no longer deliver a substantial part of what was advertised and should be given the option to cancel or reschedule. The driver, Denve (or similar spelling), was excellent. He remained professional, positive, and helpful throughout a very difficult day, and he was the highlight of the experience. After the tour, I contacted African Eagle to request a partial refund for the services that were not delivered. On May 12, 2026, I was informed in writing via WhatsApp that a 50% refund had been approved. The company proposed delivering the refund in cash to my hotel, and later agreed to send it with the driver who was scheduled to take us to the airport the following day. However, the driver arrived without any refund, and despite my subsequent follow-up messages, I received no further response and no refund was ever provided. My dissatisfaction is not primarily because of the storm. Weather events happen. My concern is that the tour proceeded despite major disruptions, that a 50% refund was formally approved, and that the approved refund was never delivered. Based on these facts, I cannot recommend this company.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for acknowledging the professionalism of our airport transfer services and your driver. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused during your Winelands tour and, more importantly, for the failure to follow through on the approved refund. Trust between our company and our clients is extremely important to us, and we regret that we fell short of the standard you rightfully expected. We understand your concerns regarding communication, guest expectations, and the refund process. While a partial refund was approved, it appears there was a breakdown in ensuring it was delivered, for which we sincerely apologize. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. Your feedback has been shared with management for review so that we can improve our procedures and prevent similar situations in the future. Once again, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and frustration caused. Our customer service team will reach out shortly to ensure your refund is processed.

Mis-sold tour but beautiful scenery
We were a little disappointed with this tour. We have an 11 year old daughter and had originally not planned to do a wine tour because didn’t feel that it would be of any interest to her. However, we were sold the tour from our hotel representative as she convinced us that they cater for children by giving them different grape juices to try so they feel as if they are part of the experience, however this was not true. At all three wine estates we had to ask for something for her to drink and she was just given coke or appetiser, so this was very disappointing and she was really bored. The other family we were with had someone who was also not drinking the wine and they were not offered any alternative. We thought we would get a bit more of a tour of the estates but it was all a rather rushed affair. This is no reflection on our tour guide who was helpful and we enjoyed seeing the scenery.
Response from the operator: Dear Weldun. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations. The wine estates we visit do offer non-alcoholic alternatives such as fruit juices, soft drinks, tea, and coffee—either listed on the menu or available upon request. We’ll follow up with our partners to ensure this is communicated more clearly. Occasionally, our guides may adjust the time spent at each stop to stay aligned with the tour itinerary and schedule. Kind regards, Peter.

Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Stellenbosch.
How much does Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town cost?
+
Prices start at $121 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Stellenbosch usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Stellenbosch is not rushed.
Is Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 103 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Stellenbosch, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town?
+
Around 36 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Stellenbosch can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Stellenbosch and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full‑Day Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Wine Tour from Cape Town start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Stellenbosch within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Stellenbosch?
+
On Outty we rank every Stellenbosch experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Afrivista Wine Tours from Stellenbosch, Cape Town Wine Tour: Stellenbosch & Franschhoek +Tastings & Lunch, Private Day Tour to Cape Point , Penguins, Wine or Beer Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Stellenbosch?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Stellenbosch?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
