Rio day tour was amazing!
We had an amazing day in Rio. Bernard spoke great English, knows the city super well and took us to the top places! We stopped for lunch at a good spot with a great view as well. It was definitely worth it. We saw so much more than we would have on our own. We felt safe and learned a ton! We would hire him again for sure! Thanks Bernard for a great day in Rio!

One of the best guides I have ever worked with anywhere in the world.
If you are looking for the best private tour guide in Rio de Janeiro, hire Bernard. He was absolutely incredible and completely transformed our work/vacation trip into an unforgettable experience. He customized the entire tour around what we wanted to see, our schedule, and even adjusted throughout the day based on the weather. We saw Christ the Redeemer, hiked through Tijuca National Park and the jungle, saw monkeys, explored local areas, and learned so much about Rio from someone who actually grew up here. What made Bernard exceptional was not just his knowledge of Rio de Janeiro, but how patient and responsive he was. He answered countless questions, both during the tour and later through WhatsApp, and gave us amazing local recommendations the entire trip. He helped us understand what life is really like in this beautiful tropical city and shared insights you would never get on a large group tour. He also knew exactly where to go and how to navigate the city efficiently, which allowed us to avoid long waits and maximize our time. We got all the benefits of being tourists without the stress and hassle of a crowded group experience. Everything felt personal, smooth, and tailored specifically to us. We packed a tremendous amount into a short trip thanks to Bernard, and I would recommend him to absolutely anyone visiting Rio. One of the best guides I have ever worked with anywhere in the world.

Fantastic personal tour guide of Rio
Bernard picked us up from our hotel and we had a lovely day visiting Christ the Redeemer, the Steps , the Cathedral and around that area . We decided not to get the tram up to Santa Teresa as the queue was too long so we drove up there and had a lovely meal in a nice restaurant with great views . The weather wasn’t great but we managed to do alot . He is a really nice guy , very knowledgable and flexible so we adapted to the weather etc on the day . He is great on restaurant recommendations too as he is from Rio so a local . We would thoroughly recommend him as a tour guide . He even loaned us his umbrellas! Brits abroad 😬

Fall in Love with Rio
My parents and I booked Bernard for a 5-hour tour split across two days. Since my parents are in their 70s, I was very intentional about finding a guide who could show us the historical highlights of Rio and keep a comfortable pace. Bernard didn’t meet our expectations....he far exceeded them. From the very beginning, he was incredibly open to our ideas and transparent about what would work best for us. He worked with me weeks in advance to thoughtfully design an itinerary that showcased the beauty and history of Rio without ever feeling rushed. His deep knowledge of the city was clear from the moment we met him. As someone who grew up in Rio, he could answer even our most detailed questions with ease and enthusiasm. Bernard was consistently mindful of the pace, especially during walking portions, and he planned the timing of each stop perfectly. He even adjusted which days we visited certain attractions based on the weather so we could have the best experience possible. His communication throughout the entire process was fast, organized, and extremely helpful. He sent the initial itinerary within just a few hours, checked in regularly, and his English is excellent. Overall, you would truly be missing out on an amazing guide if you don’t book with Bernard. He is professional, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely cares about creating the best experience for his guests. Thank you, Bernard, for helping us fall in love with Rio. With love, from Canada!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rio de Janeiro.
How much does Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes cost?
+
Prices start at $400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rio de Janeiro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rio de Janeiro is not rushed.
Is Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 110 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Rio de Janeiro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes?
+
Around 39 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rio de Janeiro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rio de Janeiro and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full Day Private Tour - Rio de Janeiro Highlights by Bernard Moraes start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rio de Janeiro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rio de Janeiro?
+
On Outty we rank every Rio de Janeiro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pedra da Gávea hike, your best experience in Rio, Rio's Full Day: Selarón Steps, Christ & Sugarloaf – Tickets & Lunch Included, Rio: Tijuca Rainforest Hike, Wildlife, Waterfalls & Caves. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rio de Janeiro?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
