Amazing and would highly recommend
This trip is definitely the way to go especially if you have an amazing driver such as Giovanni. The tour was very fun and. We were brought to many great spots that came highly recommended. Our driver Giovanni was an incredible person and very helpful. He was extremely nice and a great example of a true gentleman. If you are going to do this tour hope you get him.

One of the best tours we’ve taken.
Giovanni was an amazing guide. He was prompt in picking us up and was exactly where he said he would be. His vehicle was new, clean and his driving was perfect. He took us along the coast to Positano stopping along the way to take great pictures. Then on to Sorrento and some shopping. Before walking around Pompeii he made us reservations at a great local restaurant. Back to ship in time to do some last minute sightseeing and shopping in Napoli. Can’t recommend his tour enough. Simply amazing. Mark & Megan G.

Horrible fraud taking place.
One star, biggest scam, don’t waste your money. This is fraud by definition. NOT a private boat tour which they lead you to believe, starts on public ferry and does not go to all locations listed on trip - did not follow the given itinerary in the slightest. More costs along the way that were not disclosed in advance. Contacted both Viator and local company the moment we arrived at tour and neither would take accountability. $1,000 USD to be taken advantage of. Avoid ASKOS tours and Viator.
Response from the operator: Dear Elisabeth Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent experience. We are deeply sorry to hear that your tour did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to address some misunderstandings about the service provided. First and foremost, the tour you booked was not a boat tour. The title of the tour, "Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento," does not mention a boat tour. Additionally, the inclusions listed on the product explicitly mention 'hydrofoil tickets,' not a private boat tour. You paid for a private guide, meaning a guide at your disposal for the entire day, and a private transportation service by a professional driver with a modern minivan on the mainland. These services, as clearly mentioned in the inclusions section, were indeed provided as promised. Regarding the itinerary, we would like to remind you that the tour was scheduled to begin at 8 AM from the Sorrento port, but you did not arrive until 9 AM. For this mistake, we had to adjust the hydrofoil tickets (and nobody asked you for extra charge), with the next available departure to Capri being at 9:55 AM. Unfortunately, this delay reduced the available time on the island by approximately two hours, impacting our ability to cover all planned locations. As for the additional costs you incurred, we understand these included the funicular ticket (€2.40), entrance to the Augustus Gardens (€1.50), and refreshments like a croissant and cappuccino (approximately €5). Once again, our product explicitly states that food and drinks, entrance to Augustus Gardens, and transportation on the island are not included in the tour price. We value your feedback and take it seriously as it helps us improve our services. We strive to provide clear and accurate information about our tours, and we regret any confusion that may have arisen in this instance. Our commitment to offering enriching and enjoyable tours remains steadfast, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.

Naples was a port of call during our...

Naples was a port of call during our recent cruise. The pre-tour service was excellent, receiving a text the day before the tour, confirming pick up details, who our driver and guide were and contact numbers for both. Our guide was Paolo, an archaeologist by profession, so there was no better way to learn about Pompeii. His knowledge and enthusiasm was truly engaging, he didn't just point at things and read off a script but got us involved, turning us in to would-be archaeologists. Being a small group meant we could also avoid the crowds and long queues for main points of interest across the site.
The afternoon was spent in Capri, going to the more quieter part of Anacapri. We could have spent the afternoon waiting in a line to visit the Blue Lagoon, but after a good lunch in a restaurant away from the main tourist traps, we made better use of out time exploring the island and capturing some amazing scenery, with Paolo catering for the different interests of the group and ensuring we got back to the port on time.
Overall, a highly recommended tour and probably the best of all the tours we went on during our cruise. It was made all the better with an excellent guide.

Why this scores 51
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.
How much does Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento cost?
+
Prices start at $700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.
Is Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day Private Capri and Pompeii from Sorrento start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sorrento?
+
On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sorrento?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sorrento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
