Feedback from today's Knossos tour - PAX Walters
Am the agent that booked this tour for My travel clients (Walters) and wrote this to me today. "Just wanted to let you know to pass on to Vacanza...the tour today to Knossos was not so good. The driver did not speak much English (not a big deal), but more importantly his driving was super aggressive/erratic/not safe. We did ask him to give a bit more space between him and those he was tailgaiting on the way out. Quite scary. At times he was within a foot of vehicle in front. Passing on double lines. And at times he was going at 140 km. I know that drivers in Greece are different, but this was beyond. When we arrived at Knossos there was no guide. We indicated that it was supposed to be a full day tour with English guide. Scott insisted that he call his boss who said we hadn't booked with guide, but after a few minutes said he would send someone. We waited for a bit, and ultimately had a fantastic guide show up named Roxanne. Scott also spoke to the "Boss" about the driving concerns. He said the driver wouldn't go more than 80 k on the way home. However, the tailgating behaviour started again on the way back. " This is concerning and certainly not a pleasant review especially with the erratic and dangerous driving and disorganization of not having a guide present. I will appreciate a reply back. Response from the operator: Dear Agent of Walters I hope this message finds you well. I am writing in response to the cancellation request regarding our recent tour. I would like to clarify some points regarding our experience, which I believe justify our decision not to offer a refund.Firstly, I have attached GPS data showing that our guide maintained an average speed significantly below the expected pace (between 60-68 km/h) throughout the journey. Due to ongoing roadworks at six different locations, overtaking was extremely limited, and we were often stuck behind other vehicles for long distances. This led to a frustrating experience for our group. Moreover, driving at 50 km/h on national roads, as requested by the clients, is not only unsafe but also against traffic regulations, which could result in penalties from law enforcement. We have received complaints from clients claiming they booked a tour with a guide, yet they were informed that such arrangements were not made. The pricing for a Private Tour Guide (English, German, French) is €650, while our clients were charged €510 for a Private Tour of Chania & Bali, which is a significant discrepancy. https://www.viator.com/tours/Chania/Full-Day-Knossos-And-Heraklion-Tour-From-Chania/d4251-105339P19 To ensure client satisfaction, we went above and beyond by arranging for an additional guide at an extra cost of €140, despite the original booking not including this service. Unfortunately, the dissatisfaction expressed by the clients began just 15-30 minutes into the tour, indicating that their expectations were not aligned with the experience provided.Given these circumstances, we believe that a refund is not warranted. We strive to provide quality service, and we regret that this particular tour did not meet expectations. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards, Μarkos

Historical tour
Definitely worth a visit if you love history. The guide at the site is knowledgeable and we learned alot of new information. Joe our guide was amazing and proved many facts on route.

Wonderful service - highly recommend!
Driver was on time, attentive, shared lots of information about what we were seeing on the drive, and made sure we were comfortable and had all that we needed! Tour of Knossos is not to be missed, and spending time in Heraklion City was a nice add to our time in Crete. We would definitely use this tour company again!

Do not book with this provider!
Horrible! I bought these tickets in advance and they gave me a meeting point at a hotel. Im there with my family at 715am. I get a call from an old lady with a British accent at 8am telling me they are going to leave my family because they have a different pick up location. She is rude and asks me why I don’t know Chania streets well — uhm, maybe it’s because like every other tourist taking this excursion, im not from Chania and i followed the instructions your company gave me. I have booked Viator in other countries, never had this horrible service. Go with a local provider. Do not book with these non-Greek people.
Response from the operator: hello our company is greek not british

Well planned
The tour was well planned and timed. The tour guide Jo and the bus driver were both very friendly and prompt. It was a long hot day and I perhaps wouldn’t choose to do the same activities a second time, but I can’t fault the tour operators themselves.
Response from the operator: Ηello thanks for the review

Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chania.
How much does Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chania usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chania is not rushed.
Is Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.1/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chania, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chania can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chania and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Full-Day Knossos And Heraklion Tour From Chania Guided start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chania within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chania?
+
On Outty we rank every Chania experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Rethymno Quad Safari, Elafonisi & Falasarna Small Group Tour from Chania w/snacks, Balos & Falassarna Beach - Jeep Tour with Loungers and Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chania?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chania?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
