I had a wonderful experience visiting Isla Saona. From start to finish, the trip was very well organized and everything ran smoothly. The staff were professional, friendly, and always showed great respect to everyone in the group, which made the atmosphere welcoming and comfortable. Safety was clearly a priority, and I felt completely at ease throughout the journey. The island itself was stunning, but what truly made the experience memorable was how well everything was managed. Highly recommend this trip for anyone looking for a safe, enjoyable, and well-organized excursion!

    Not recommended

12 hours journey in total, only 90 minutes on the island and the bad food. Everything they want to sell you as something that can be lost but a beach like any other.

    I want my refund

We had an incredible time during our trip, but the journey home took an unexpected turn. As we were getting ready to leave, it became clear that they had overbooked the boats, and I really didn’t want to split my family of four into two groups. So, I decided to go with the flow. My son and I hopped into one boat, and we zipped back quickly. Meanwhile, my wife and our other two kids were in a different boat, which ended up breaking down! I waited at Bayahibe for over an hour, watching group after group disembark, but my heart sank as I didn’t see my family among them. After an hour of uncertainty, I finally learned that their boat had indeed broken down, and we would have to wait. My mind raced with worry, and with so little information coming in, I reached out to Viator for a refund, hoping to alleviate some of the frustration. After three days of waiting, I was finally refunded, but the experience left a bitter taste. It was tough going through those two hours of uncertainty and anxiety. In the end, I urge anyone to think twice before risking such a split — this was my family’s first and last time booking with Viator.

    Very beautiful beach but...

They looked for us at 7:40 a.m. when they said 7:15 a.m., but when we arrived in Bayahibe we had to wait 30 minutes more. Then another 30 minutes to board the catamaran. We finally arrived at Saône Island around 1:30 p.m. Between serving food and lunch, it was 2:00 p.m., and we could only enjoy the island until 3:30 p.m. Most uncomfortable was that the tour guide, Danny Boy, demanded a tip insistently and even made disparaging comments about it. We felt that a simple comment like “if you liked the Service and wish to tip, it is well received” would have been enough. That attitude ruined the experience a bit. Very long journey to enjoy 1:30 on the beach.

Day out at sea with the family

This was a fun sailing day. It took pretty much all day and consisted of a catamaran ride to the island with a pit stop to hop in the beautiful blue water for a dip in the water. You could see starfish near this area. Would have been nice if snorkeling was an option at this point. The boat crew did a great job of getting guests to dance and dance music was playing loudly. We spent two hours at the island eating at the buffet and hanging out on the beach. Massages were an option for purchase. We then transferred into smaller speedboats for our return back to the pier.

Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana cost?

    +

Prices start at $34 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full Day Island Tour in Isla Saona from Punta Cana start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Off Road Buggy Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
