Full day experience in Luang Prabang

We started our day with a stop at Manifa Elephant camp but our morning was spent on a kayak trip down a tributary of the Mekong. Easy paddle with stunning views. Our guide, Pouang was knowledgeable about many things and especially with managing the river once we got to the mush faster Mekong. Stopes at the caves before returning to a buffet lunch back at the camp. We then traveled to Kuang Sai waterfall, an amazing place to see and refreshing pools to swim in. A short stop at a local farm to introduce us to rice production ended the day. We were then given the option to cruise the river instead of driving back in the van, to which we all heartily said yes! Our driver was a bit fast for us. Outsides all day, great value, and interesting travel mates. Highly recommend!

Our tour was great....

Our tour was great. Kayaking on the Mekong was a great and memorable experience. Excellent way to get to Pak Ou which was also a great experience.

Great Day - thank you Vone!!!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time cycling, kayaking, and taking the river cruise. We really enjoyed visiting the village and exploring Pak Ou caves, and lunch was great. Our group was a nice small size for the cycling and only us and our guide for the kayaking. But our amazing guide, Vone, made the experience really special. He was very knowledgeable about the area and Loas’ history, and his English was perfect. He gave us a lot of time to explore on the kayaks and answered all of our questions. We would 100% recommend the tour, and if you can ask for Vone as your guide!

Response from the operator: "Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! 😊 We're thrilled Vone made your day special. He's one of our best guides, and we're glad you enjoyed the cycling, kayaking, and river cruise. Your kind words about Vone's knowledge and English are much appreciated. Thanks for choosing us, hope to welcome you back to Laos!"

DO THIS

Brilliant to do, what an experience to kayak. Professional crowd and the food was so so good. Very well organised. Loved it, do it.

Response from the operator: You're making me wanna book a kayak trip 😊! Sounds like you had an epic experience with the Pak Ou Caves and sunset cruise. The kayaking sounds like a highlight, and "so so good" food is a win! 🍴 Would you recommend any tips for others doing this tour?- Get ready for a great workout (kayaking can be tough but worth it) - Bring sunscreen and a hat (you'll be outdoors) - Enjoy the sunset cruise (optional but sounds like a nice touch) Would you do it again or try another adventure in Laos? 😊

Great fun tour

A great experience. The kayaking wasn’t easy but it wasn’t far and it was amazing scenery! We also were really luck and we were the only two on the trip which made it very special. An extra treat was the chance to meet elephants at the end of the trip over lunch and feed them

Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Luang Prabang.

How much does Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise cost?

+

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Luang Prabang usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Luang Prabang is not rushed.

Is Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Luang Prabang, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise?

+

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Luang Prabang can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Luang Prabang and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full day / Half Day Kayaking and Pak Ou Caves with optional sunset cruise start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Luang Prabang within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Luang Prabang?

+

On Outty we rank every Luang Prabang experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Luang Prabang: Cruise to Pak Ou Caves & Kuang Si Waterfalls, Mekong Meals Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, FULL DAY – Kuang Si Waterfall, Kayak on the Nam Ou / Mekong River, Pak Ou Caves. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Luang Prabang?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Luang Prabang?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
