What you get

    About this experience

The Golden Circle was one of the first travel routes developed in Icelandic tourism, thanks to the location of Geysir, the first documented geyser in Europe, and the unique geological wonders found along the route. Travelers can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates while learning about the geology and volcanic formation of Iceland, the world’s second-largest island. This unforgettable journey tells the story of the birth of Iceland as a nation, its dramatic landscapes shaped by fire and ice, and the resilience of the Icelandic people, who learned to survive in one of the harshest environments on Earth. Your guide will recommend a lunch stop at Friðheimar geothermal tomato greenhouse, with reservations arranged upon request. On the way back to Reykjavík, we also stop at Kerið, an extinct volcanic crater, for a short scenic hike around the crater lake.

The only company we would book!

We met Elizabeth when we booked an airport transfer through a third party. Even though we had a flight issue and she had to pick us up at midnight instead of the afternoon, it was no hassle and she turned up. Turned out to be a lucky meeting. The company we had originally booked our small group golden circle tour with cancelled the tour late afternoon the day prior and did not help find us an alternative! Elizabeth had given us her card and said if we needed anything, to call. So we did and she managed to take us on a private tour and saved the day. She is not only warm, she is a wealth of knowledge and shared cultural insights as well has history and general knowledge about the country. We would absolutely recommend this tour company for an authentic, personalised experience.

    We were incredibly...

We were incredibly fortunate to have had Elisabete as our tour guide. Her familiarity and passion for the area made the tour extraordinary. I would highly recommend you seek her out for any of your Icelandic tours.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind and generous words. It truly means a lot to me. Sharing Iceland with you was a joy, and I’m grateful for the time we spent together. I feel very lucky to have met you. 💙

Unreliable – Canceled 2.5 Hours Before Tour

I booked this private tour through TripAdvisor 4 weeks in advance and repeatedly tried to confirm details through the platform with no response. I eventually had to track down the guide on Facebook/WhatsApp, where she confirmed our date, pickup time, and group size multiple times. On the morning of our tour – which was also our last day in Iceland – she canceled just 2.5 hours before departure, at 4:45 am. Not only did this mean we lost our only chance to see the sights we had carefully planned, but we were also left scrambling for transportation to the airport. The lack of professionalism and reliability caused us stress, extra expense, and the loss of an experience we will never get back. I strongly advise future travelers to book with someone dependable. Reliability and communication are essential in a tour operator, especially when it involves airport transfers and a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am truly sorry for the stress and disappointment this situation caused you, especially on your last day in Iceland. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel at very short notice. I understand how upsetting this was and how much you were looking forward to the tour, and for that, I sincerely apologize. I also regret the communication issues through the platform and appreciate your patience in reaching out directly. This is something I am continuously working to improve. My intention is always to provide meaningful, reliable, and heartfelt experiences, and I am deeply sorry that I was unable to do so in this case. I truly wish you all the best in your future travels and hope Iceland still left you with many beautiful memories.

Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík cost?

    +

Prices start at $1961 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full-Day Golden Circle Private Tour from Reykjavík start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
