Really good trip to see breathtaking views

Meltem was a great tour guide :) views were so beautiful, trip to underground city is something that I will remember for sure. Lunch was really good. The one thing I would like to do during this trip was Ilhara valley walk- maybe next time :) My tip for visitors- bring some warm clothes because the weather could be freakish

    Green tour in Cappadocia

We joined the Green Tour in Cappadocia and had a wonderful experience. The tour was very well organized, and we visited many beautiful and interesting places. Our guide was excellent, providing detailed information and fascinating stories about each location, which helped us understand the history and culture of Cappadocia much better. Everything was enjoyable from start to finish, and we learned so many new things throughout the day. Special thanks to Hazal for her kind assistance and excellent customer service. She was very helpful and made the whole experience even smoother. Thank you.

Green tour itinerary is good as long as tour operators don't overpromise, underdeliver and add unscheduled stops

About five weeks before our visit to Turkey, I booked a private guided green tour directly with Travel Cappadocia for a group of seven people. Booking communication was good and we paid a deposit of EUR150 to secure our booking. Despite this, I had to chase for a confirmation email/pdf one week before the event. The total price per person seemed reasonable and they were happy to tailor the itinerary since we were a private group (e.g. include Selime Monastery and Nar Lake; many group green tours include one or the other but not both). We were also able to choose to visit our preferred underground city (Kaymakli). When confirming the booking, Travel Cappadocia suggested we start the green tour at 10:00 instead of the usual 09:30. I said I didn't mind as long as we would be able to visit all the sites on our agreed itinerary. On the day of the tour, we were picked up from the hotel on time and everything started off well. First stop, Goreme Panoramic View, followed by a visit to Pigeon Valley at Uchisar where we also spent a bit of time engaging in the spectacle of ordering Turkish ice cream from a local vendor (try it, it's as much theatre as sweet treats). Immediately after ice cream, we were taken to a jewellery store across the road and this is where it all started to go wrong. Not because there was anything negative about the shop or the people there but because (1) this stop was not on our itinerary and (2) we were encouraged to spend as much time in there as possible presumably so that we would spend money there. I am in favour of supporting local businesses but this stop could have been done at the end of the day, rather than the start of it. After the jewellery shop, the guide suggested we try Turkish wine at the wine shop next door because one of our group asked a question about the vines we saw outside. Another time waster. As a consequence, by the time we left for Kaymakli underground city, we were well off course and the hordes of tour groups had arrived there. Sensibly, our guide suggested we visit other sites first and return to Kaymakli later on once the crowds would have dissipated. We didn't at this point appreciate how far away the other sites were and were then told that we would have to be back at Kaymakli before 16:15 because that is the latest entry time. So now we were under serious time pressure which affected our enjoyment of the rest of the tour. We had 10 minutes to run down to the Nar Lake viewpoint and grab some rushed photos. We raced through one part of Ihlara Valley just to have drinks (which we could have done without) at the Tea Garden where the staff were miserable and we were told off for using the toilet even though we paid. Some of us were able to run around Selime Monastery quickly peering into the many different rooms while others in our group were not physically able to do it at this pace. And we wolfed down what was a really tasty lunch before making it back just in time for last entry at Kaymakli Underground City. Thankfully, this was not as rushed since it was our final stop. We were not taken to the onyx demonstration which is on the itinerary but, to be honest, I was glad not to be taken to yet another place to buy something overpriced given our experience earlier in the day. Moral of the story for Tour Cappadocia: Be honest with your customers about what is/is not possible and don't alter the itinerary or pick up time if you know that it is already challenging to fit everything in. I understand that you wanted to promise me whatever I wanted to secure our custom but under-delivering is worse than managing expectations from the outset. Also, listen to your guides; rather than put them in a difficult position (later pick up times etc.), get their advice on what is actually possible to achieve. Guides: be honest with your guests, give them options and help them weigh up the pros and cons, don't sneak in stops that were not on the itinerary. Moral of the story for future visitors: Be prepared to challenge the tour operator and the guides especially on private tours, if you feel comfortable doing so. One of my group asked about the amount of time we had in the jewellery store but perhaps we should have been more assertive. On a positive note: The green tour is amazing. You will see some fantastic sites that are awe-inspiring and boggle the mind. Kaymakli Underground City is one such example. We appreciated our guide's knowledge, experience, friendliness and sense of humour along with our driver's safe driving skills.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Goreme.

How much does Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch) cost?

    +

Prices start at $49 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Goreme usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch) take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Goreme is not rushed.

Is Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 75 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Goreme, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch)?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch)?

    +

Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Goreme can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Goreme and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Full-Day Cappadocia Green Tour (With / Without Museum Lunch) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Goreme within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Goreme?

    +

On Outty we rank every Goreme experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Red (North) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and tickets, Green (South) Tour Cappadocia (small group) with lunch and ticket, Cappadocia Green Tour - Classic Route (Popular). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Goreme?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Goreme?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
