Located on the west coast of Fuerteventura, next to the Jandía peninsula, La Pared black beach “Viejo rey” is a beach about 250 meters long made up of rocks that has a wild character. It survived complete destruction during the Arab invasion of 1593 when all of Betancuria was reduced to dust. The town takes its name from the hen pheasant, as the coat of arms shows.
