Non-existent tour, alternative is horribly bad.

Do not book this tour under any circumstances… 4 hour tour does not exist so they make you do a 6 hour tour. We were not told it was 6 hours though until the boat had undocked so it was too late. Our bus was booked for 6pm and we were told it was okay as the bus would arrive back at 5.30pm but didn’t arrive back until 6.45pm. This meant we missed our bus that we had paid for so we had to pay for another nights stay in Halong and another bus the next day. This would maybe be very very slightly excusable if the actual experience was any good. However, a few of the staff were rude and the tour generally is very badly organised and rushed (yes, even though it was 2 and a half hours longer than supposed to be). They also lie to you about the price of the entry fee to Halong Bay and overcharge you. No refund, no compensation and staff members are also disgustingly rude on the phone and don’t take any of my grievances into account, and of course, continue to lie. Lunch is also not included and it is even more overcooked than it is overpriced. All in all, terrible tour, and horrible customer service, full of lies and money grabbing. Will be waiting for a chance to escalate this, will not rest until I receive rightly deserved compensation. And a company as big as Viator should not allow a tour which does not exist to be sold. I’d give 0 stars if possible.

Response from the operator: Dear Traveler, Due to not enough travelers, we politely asked you to go with 6 hours boat tour or we cancel the tour. You agreed to it. Due to operation at sea and the middle of Summer holiday and Halong is packed up with thousands of tourists a day. Entrance fee are not sold in our tour as we do not own it and do not add into our travel plan. Lunch is not included as people normally have lunch before or after the boat trip in Halong city restaurant. All other people understand about it and many other reviews have said about it here. Quite ridiculous you wanted a refund for the things we do not own. Thank you

Saved my day

This company has saved my day. Without them I would never visit Halong Bay. I got late to the cruise because of the holiday madness and a lot of traffic. They got me on a 6 hours trip instead of 4 hours without asking any extras. I am so thankful ❤️

Beautiful place, mediocre organization, ship is bearable, people are friendly.

The place is great. Definitely worth the trip. Not sure about the full day, but 2-4 hour trip definitely worth the time. Gathering instruction was not clear. They said 198x cafe is the spot to gather, but it has been renamed to "Athens" cafe. Quite frustrating, as it is hard to find there a single person to guide you. The boat has tables and benches but they are dirty. Top-deck is nicer, but is accessible only en-route (while ship is moving between the stations). Tickets to the area it self has to be bought separately. Frustration again, as it was not clear who should do it. The port staff couldn't understand that I wanted to buy only tickets to the area, not the boat ticket that I had already purchased through this site. Quite frustrating. Eventually I had to give cash to the tour orgnisired that gave me tickets to the area as well. Cards are not accepted.

Awful customer service and bad communication on meeting point

I should believe and listen the past customers comment. VERY BAD SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION!! Please don’t buy this trip, the pre arrangements on meeting place WAS TERRIBLE But the guide Tommy is a nice young gentleman honestly, nothing related to him, he was helping us, and lead us running to the boat in rush! Appreciated!

TRULY, If you are not able to access to internet or making a phone call during/before your journey, you want to turn off the phone and everything goes smoothly with service right to your foot of cruise you should book the All Inclusive Private tour option or simply get one arranged by your cruise staff. Group boat tours when you are on oversea cruise means you have to be connected all the time. We sent you the email and message via whatsapp before the travel date and you did not get it. We guided clearly our Operation building, our coffee House, our Check in counter, Our boat name. It is then a pity that you did not get it. It means you have chosen a wrong tour. Luckily after a long time on your own you managed to ask a local Vietnamese to call us and we showed you to the meeting place. For our future clients, if you travel without internet access and phone, please remember to come to the ONLY yellow building - the Operation building of the harbor and you can ask anybody there they will know us. Or simply book our ALL INCLUSIVE PORT OF CALL TOUR OPTION for AT-foot-cruise service. Thank you!
