    About this experience

This trip is specially designed for those interested in the American, Australian and Kiwi veterans during the Vietnam war. Although extensively documented by the survivors of Australian’s heavily engagement of the war, little is known of the Viet Cong’s actions. Therefore, we always try to find some of the local Vietnamese veterans who fought in the remarkable of Long Tan. From this trip, you have a chance to visit former battle fields such as Long Tan Cross, Nui Dat SS Hill and Long Phuoc tunnels. Our clients find that bringing the former protagonists together with a good interpreter and a plenty of rice wine is an unforgettable for both sides.

    LongTan homage

Jack was fantastic, as a former soldier he throughly ‘gets it’ when Aussie patriots want to pay homage to the fallen. Jacks true passion for history shone through, not just a tour guide doing tour guide things, many a conversation was expanded on via my own passion for the same history. In particular, with utmost respect, Jack gave fascinating insights to the Vietnamese side of the conflict, filling gaps I didn’t previously know were there in my own understanding of the history. Daniel is in great hands learning from the ‘master’ & I wish him all the best…. But he has big shoes to fill!!!

Response from the operator: Dear 216lintonh, Thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing Vietnam Travel Group! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your tour. Beach Lovers

Jack and Daniel are the best! Jack is amazingly knowledgeable about the history of Vietnam and he shares it passionately. Both of them are willing to answer any questions gracefully. We also felt very safe with Truong’s driving skills. The beaches are beautiful and the food was delicious. As beach lovers, we are glad we joined this tour.

    Vietnam travel Group

Wanting to see the oceans shoreline, we booked this private tour of Vung Tau with Vietnam Travel Group. Our tour guide/s Jack and Daniel took care of us and were flexible with our sights needs. We had lunch at a very nice restaurant, which was included in the tour. We would surely recommend this tour, especially if you’re wanting to see the seashore.

Jack was an outstanding tour guide with a deep understanding of the history of Nui Dat and the Battle of Long Tan. His knowledge really brought the experience to life and gave great insight into such an important part of history. He spoke excellent English, making everything easy to follow, and was extremely accommodating throughout the tour. Living history

An exceptional tour. My guide Jack has a deep knowledge of the Vietnamese people’s history, and how it culminated in the conflict. His own military history gives him and the source maps he uses gives depth and understanding to how the Long Tan battle began, and the moments that shaped the outcome. The tour included visiting various sites around the Nui Dat base, with photos from the time showing things that happened on the spot you’re standing. If you are in Vietnam, you should take this tour.

From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.

How much does From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today cost?

    +

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.

Is From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 74 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today?

    +

Around 26 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From War to Peace: Long Tân & the Australian Base Today start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
