Mount Bromo is very special with the spectacular sunrise panorama. Landscape of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru that stand side by side at Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Mount Ijen is about 200km further east and involves a night hike up. Once you make it into the volcano, you will see the blue flames (only visible before sunrise) and see the most acidic lake in the world. You will meet the miners, they are the strong local villagers who work at night to collect sulfur using very low safety gear standard. They risk themselves carrying 60-80 kilograms of sulfur down the mountain twice a day and the income they get depends on how many kilograms of sulfur they can bring down. After the sunrise, Ijen Crater turns into a fantastic volcano that you will always remember. The acidic turquoise lake, the truly exotic volcanic rugged cliffs, the smoke of sulfur and the ambitious miners, all these combinations may make you more grateful for your life.

- Mount Bromo and Cemoro Lawang can be pretty chilly before sunrise since they’re 2,329 meters (7,641 ft) above sea level,the elevation at the viewpoint is a whopping 2,770 meters (9,088 ft). Temperatures can drop below 7 Celsius (45 F), and that doesn’t even factor in wind chill. It can get incredibly windy on the mountain peaks, and dry season is cooler than rainy season. However, you’ll only be chilly before sunrise. After that it warms up pretty quick, and the sun at this elevation is plenty strong.

- When you decide to see the blue fire, descend 800 meters with steep conditions up to a 45 degree incline, the path to the bottom of the crater will be rocky and narrow.
- Mount Ijen usually during the wet season, the volcanic activity near the crack of volcano is rising. If this activity occurs then authorities will close the trail going to the Blue Flame but travellers still have opportunity to enjoy the landscape from Ijen's rim of crater, or if the volcanic activities turn the toxicity of gas into a level of danger, then the authorities will close the entire site for safety reasons. Visiting Mount Ijen/Blue flame means you need to be ready for nature’s unpredictability. There is no guarantee that you will go down the crater/blue fire on the day of your trip, nature is unpredictable and if due to massive sulphur clouds it is too dangerous on that day to go down, you have to respect it for your own safety.

Your best option for a 4D-3N private tour at Tumpak Sewu-Bromo-Ijen
An amazing experience with this team! The service is impecableor during the tour. We travel a lot, and we must say that we have not experienced such professionalism as this ever before. The communication, the people, the service were amazing. How they also handled the cancellation of the Bromo tour due to the closure of the area beacause of the wildfires at the time, was impeccable. Also selection of accommodation was great, with th highlight being Teras Ijen villas. Wish we could stay more there. Our driver Sigit is such a great person, we specifically thank him for taking care of us. The guides at each place also amazing, with a special mention to Suci, our guide at Ijen! And such a lovey surprise that she was speaking Greek!!! If you are planning to do this tour privately, not sure that you will find a better option!

The Trip of a Lifetime — Bromoijentrans are exceptional
We honestly can’t recommend Bromoijen Tour Transport (Bromobackpackers) highly enough. From the very first pickup to the final drop-off, the whole experience was seamless, and the team made it truly unforgettable. Our driver Sigit was an absolute beast behind the wheel — his driving skills are next level, and we felt completely safe the entire time, even on the chaotic Java roads. On top of that he shared so much knowledge about the area along the way, and looked after us at every single step (even when we left our wallets at the hotel — he had us covered!). A genuine legend. Our Ijen guide Rossy was fantastic — absolutely hilarious, so knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. He made the pre-dawn blue-fire trek both magical and fun, and we felt in the safest hands the whole way up and down. Our Bromo guide Harry taught us so much about his culture and the region, and his local knowledge was invaluable. We had a super tight schedule, and the team nailed our timings to a tee — Harry made sure we didn’t miss a single moment despite the tight windows. And a huge thank you to Ary for organising everything so smoothly and being so responsive and warm throughout. The itinerary itself — Tumpak Sewu waterfall, the Ijen blue fire, the Bromo sunrise — was breathtaking, but it was the people that made it. If you’re considering this tour, book with these guys. Exhilarating times
Ary was very flexible changing the tour to let us go from Bali to Malang, was very well organised and patient given our flight was delayed twice. Ickbal was a lovely friendly driver who took us to a great lunch spot. I would suggest to those going to Bromo to walk across the Sea of Sand rather than drive as we got caught in a two hour traffic jam. If we were going to do this again we also would have organised for a break/rest day between Bromo & Ijen as we were exhausted. We had a lovely time and all the accommodation was really nice Thanks to everyone that made it work

High quality service - Highly recommended for solo travelers!
