This tour to Ganghwa-do Island is a great option to travel from Seoul to discover something new
The journey left an extremely positive impression. Accompanying professional chefs in the traditional marketplace allowed for a deep dive into the specifics of local products and a taste of red tea. Also, a visit to an ancient fort on Ganghwado Island and a stop at a natural mountain spring created an atmosphere of complete tranquillity imbued with the spirit of history. Lunch was held in an authentic Hanokkah and exceeded expectations. Pulcogi beef had excellent taste, with organizers providing a full-fledged alternative for vegetarians. A cloth cutting exercise in the centre of Suchang also brought a lot of positive emotions. However, the highlight of the day was a visit to Joyang Banjik. The establishment is a colossal retro coffee shop set inside a former cotton spinning mill of the 20th century. A walk through the complex is like a visit to a huge vintage museum: there are unique art objects, antiques and historical sculptures everywhere. The space has a distinctive aesthetic, is replete with spectacular photography locations and offers a wide range of exquisite desserts and drinks. Thus, if your itinerary is in Korea and you are looking for the best balance between national cuisine, historical heritage and non-standard places with the atmosphere of the last century, Ganghwa Island deserves to be included in the visit.

Ganghwa Gastronomic Tour
Thank you to the organizers for the wonderful gastronomic tour to Ganghwa Island, which I visited for the first time. This trip gave me many new experiences. The program was well organized, full of interesting places and left the most pleasant experiences. During the tour, we visited Ganghwa Pungmul Market, where we were introduced to local products and traditional handicrafts, took a walk along Ganghwa Fortress North Gate and sampled natural spring water. Then we were invited to a traditional hanok where we tasted local turnip tea. Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch at the traditional Maeheon 1935 restaurant, where we were treated to traditional dishes, desserts and drinks. We also visited the Museum of Traditional Weaving, where we had an interesting workshop on fabric decoration. The tour concluded with a visit to the Joyang Bangjik, an unusual retro cafe located in a former textile factory. It's a very atmospheric place with a lot of interesting vintage items. I was very pleased with the trip and I am happy to recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the history, culture and local cuisine of Ganghwa Island.

Culinary excursion to Ganghwa Island
It was an interesting and exciting day. A highlight of this tour was the visit to a cotton factory, where we were able to decorate cotton cloths with stamps. We also drank mugwort tea here in a teahouse before we were then able to try water from a natural spring. At noon, we then stopped at Maeheon 1935, a traditional Korean hanok restaurant. We were able to choose from 3 dishes in advance. As a vegan/vegetarian, there was mushroom bibimbap here and it was incredibly delicious. If you talk to the guide beforehand about being vegan/vegetarian, she will make sure to show you what you can eat and what you cannot. Before we drove back, we made a stop at a café that also functions as a kind of time capsule. Old apparatuses and carousel horses, dolls, pictures, and lamps as far as the eye can see. And at the same time, nothing seemed out of place or too much. I can recommend this tour to anyone who has a day to get out of Seoul and learn a little about the culinary specialties of this island.

Culinary experience
We visited Ganghwa Island, in Incheon, in the month of July. Together with the chef, we took a little walk through the traditional market, walked to the fortress to reach a natural spring, drank a quick tea in a traditional house, and in my opinion, the best part started now. We went to eat Korean food in another traditional house. I ordered the typical raw meat dish and they gave us traditional desserts and drinks: tteok makgeolli and misugaru. Everything was delicious! Afterward, we returned to the house where we had had tea and made a decoration with stamps on fabric; it turns out that they have had a factory there for years and since then, they have been converting the cotton plant into thread and, subsequently, into fabric. And that was the fabric we used for our decoration. A nice detail and travel souvenir! The house is also very pretty for taking photos in a traditional Korean house. To finish the tour, we went to a most curious café. It was a huge place with a bunch of random and antique decorations. As if it were a messy museum, you found decorations where you least expected them. Making for a place with an aesthetic charm.
