must go
This was a long tour but good, but not great. I think it just depends on your tour guide really. It was hard to hear at times but this place is a must.
Response from the operator: Hi Sam! Thank you very much for sharing your feedback. We always appreciate guests taking the time to write a review. We’d just like to gently note that all of our tours are private experiences, with a private driver and guide, and we accommodate up to 6 guests only. Based on the description, it’s possible there may have been a small mix up with another company. If so, we completely understand, it happens sometimes. We’re always happy to help clarify or answer any questions, and we truly appreciate you stopping by our page. Wishing you many more lovely travel experiences!

Engaging, safe, interesting, and wonderful guide experience with Angie from Your Cretan Local
Going on a tour to Europe alone to a country I haven't been to, given my past experiences, required a careful selection of whom to find for a guide to take me through the meaningful sites. I'm so glad I found Angie, especially since I was traveling solo to a place I was unfamiliar with and did not know any safe way to travel on my own. Angie loved to share her little desserts and talked about her life as a guide, and allowed me to know beyond what we could read online or in textbooks. While she isn't a licensed expert guide, she knows the area and industry well enough to share unique insights, local news, her take on the situation of Greece, and a local take on Crete. However, for in-depth real historic archaeological sites where you need an expert guide to walk you through, just ask Angie, and she can connect you with wonderful local expert guides who could tailor their detailed explanations of the sites according to your pace and time you have. I ran out of time, but I wish I had an extra hour at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum (well, I spent too much time at Knossos of course, admiring the details of the architecture and asking the expert guide so many questions). This experience with Angie and the expert guide really helped me segway into my ensuing trip with tour operator of mainland Greek sites. I feel like the one-day trip was not enough on Crete because I only covered half of the island, and not even some of the important sites (had to miss out on them). Anyway, the speculation of Atlantis being connected with the Minoan culture (vaguely remembered was someting to do with maritime commerce) was interesting too!

So worth it!
This is your one stop shop to visit wonderful highlights of the island and Aggi was beyond amazing. She helped us plan the rest of our days here and was so helpful with all the spots for today’s tour and all the highlights for the rest of our days in Crete. I would 10000% recommend. We had a teenager and a 9 year old and all the tour was just good for us all. Our family usually avoids any long trip but this did not feel like a full day and that is saying a lot for us. Just book it.

Rising above the best for a private day tour in the highlands around Heraklion
Tourism is a very competitive industry in Crete, so we did the research and succeeded in finding a guide among the best for a private day tour in the highlands around Heraklion. Angie is a very knowledgable and pleasant guide and she exceeded our expectations in every way.

Amazing day driving around Crete
The guided tour was exceptional. The guide drives you around Crete in a comfortable car, has snacks and water at hand and tells you about some of the most interesting history facts I heard about Crete and its ancient culture. I visited the island three times before, so I know a little bit myself, but I was still very impressed with some of the things I learned that day. We also tasted some of the best honey and olive oil Crete has to offer. We had a blast!

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chania.
How much does From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau cost?
+
Prices start at $500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chania usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chania is not rushed.
Is From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chania, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chania can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chania and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Rethymno Private Day Tour Knossos-Lassithi Plateau start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chania within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Chania?
+
On Outty we rank every Chania experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Rethymno Quad Safari, Elafonisi & Falasarna Small Group Tour from Chania w/snacks, Balos & Falassarna Beach - Jeep Tour with Loungers and Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Chania?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Chania?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
