More of a "ride'" than a tour

It is difficult to review this experience as it felt more like a ride than an actual guided tour. Our driver was very nice and clearly made an effort, and we appreciated his friendliness. However, his English was quite broken, which made communication and understanding of the information challenging. Our time in Eibsee was fantastic, and the ride to the summit was certainly an experience. However, the downside was that we did not have enough time to properly tour and enjoy the lake. Although the walk to the Gorge was not difficult we were told the hike would take approximately 20 minutes each way. What was not communicated beforehand was that there would be an additional 30+ minute walk just to reach the actual entrance to the hike. Having this information in advance would have helped us better prepare for the experience. The transportation was in a very compact car with 4 passengers in total. While this may be perfectly normal by European standards, it made for a somewhat cramped ride, especially when traveling to and from the destination. Overall, we appreciated our driver's kindness and effort, but clearer communication about the walking distance, a better understanding of what to expect, and more space during transportation would have made this a more enjoyable and well-rounded tour experience. We would recommend this because of the beauty we got to experience!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful Alpine scenery and appreciated our driver’s kindness and effort. We would like to clarify that the itinerary allocates two hours to the Partnach Gorge visit. This includes approximately 15 minutes walking from the parking area to the gorge and 15 minutes returning, leaving around 90 minutes to explore. Vehicle access is restricted beyond the designated parking area, so this approach on foot is part of the visit for all guests. Although our driver explained the arrangements when welcoming you into the car, we understand that distinguishing the approach walk from the walk through the gorge more clearly beforehand would have helped you prepare. The itinerary also provides three hours for Zugspitze and Lake Eibsee, which guests can divide according to their preferences—for example, approximately 90 minutes at each—and a further 90 minutes in Garmisch for lunch and exploring the town. Had we known you wanted more time at the lake, we would have been happy to discuss adjusting the schedule where possible. Our team also made several individual arrangements to support your comfort during the day. When you finished your gorge visit ahead of the other two guests, our driver took you separately to Garmisch so you would not have to wait, then returned to collect them. He also offered to return to your hotel so you could pick up jackets and provided a welcome drink with electrolytes for your walk. We mention these details to illustrate the attentive, flexible service we aim to provide. Visiting these Alpine destinations from Munich does involve substantial driving between locations. Nevertheless, we take your comments about space seriously, and we are planning to introduce a more spacious, premium vehicle for future excursions. We also appreciate your feedback. Thank you again for recommending the experience for the beauty you encountered. We are glad you enjoyed discovering different parts of the Bavarian Alps, and your feedback will help us communicate the itinerary and practical details more clearly.

    A beautiful day in Bavaria

We had a very good time with the driver and guide, she was very polite, helpful and well know of the area. The Mittenwald is magnificent like a fairytale, the Partach nice for hiking and the lake eibsee the most beautiful lake that I have seen in Europe. The trip worth it, we did not have press of time. The car was clean.

Driver never arrived and blamed us

We waited at the pick up spot shortly before pick up time. We received a message that the driver was going to be 10 minutes late. After waiting 20 minutes at the pick up spot we received a call that they could not pick us up and that we needed to walk 12 minutes away to meet him. We started walking in the direction provided but asked for a location pin. He responded not to go to the location provided. Now 30 minutes late, we were told to walk to one of two ubahn stops and take a train to a pick up location which would have taken at least another 30 minutes to get to. Mind you we were at the agreed upon pickup spot and no driver arrived. After all the issues, we asked for a refund which left us nothing planned for the day. They refused a refund, stating that the issue was our fault. I wouldn’t bother with this group as they didn’t provide the service paid for, we’e incredibly rude, and are refusing to give a refund. I was wary of booking something without reviews. I should’ve known better.

Response from the operator: We would like to clarify the facts for future guests. The driver and the guide arrived in the pickup area before the scheduled 08:40 pickup time. Access to the hotel was restricted by police due to road closures for a major event in Munich, and the driver was instructed to leave the area multiple times. The guests were contacted and offered alternative meeting points, including accessible U-Bahn locations, but they declined. The driver remained available until 10:05. Viator reviewed the situation from both sides and decided not to issue a refund. We also have photographic evidence and records of our communication with the guests that demonstrate that the statements in this review are false. We understand the inconvenience, but the situation was caused by temporary police restrictions outside our control. We wish you all the best of your rest of your trip

Beautiful experience, the guide made me feel friendly, and the landscapes were magical!

Excellent experience! We visited Eibsee, Partnachklamm, and Mittenwald by private car and private driver/guide. The guide was very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area, making the whole trip comfortable and enjoyable. The private car was very comfortable and gave us the freedom to enjoy the journey without rush. The landscapes were wonderful and the experience is truly worth it!

How much does From Munich to Eibsee-Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge & Mittenwald cost?

    +

Prices start at $200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From Munich to Eibsee-Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge & Mittenwald take?

    +

Is From Munich to Eibsee-Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge & Mittenwald worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From Munich to Eibsee-Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge & Mittenwald?

    +

Is From Munich to Eibsee-Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge & Mittenwald suitable for kids and families?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Munich Ghosts and Spirits Evening Walking Tour, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Munich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Munich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
