What you get

    About this experience

About 10 miles (16 km) out of the city, but still within the Krakow metropolitan area, lies the city of Wieliczka, home to the renowned Salt Mine, considered to be the epitome of technological progress made by humans. During the 16th century, royal guests began visiting the mine lured by the developing culture and health benefits. Over the years, miners transformed the mine from a typical dark cave into a majestic location. By the 19th century, giant salt-crystal chandeliers lit the underground complex, they’re still today. Striking salt-carved monuments line the chambers alongside displays of historic salt-mining technology, an underground lake, four chapels and numerous statues carved by miners. A visit through the shafts and labyrinth as well as more recent sculptures made by contemporary artist all combined result in world-wide fame of this magical place.

    Excellent service

The tour was easy to book direct with Krakowfy. We were looking specifically for a tour that was suitable for people with mobility issues and the tours fit the bill. Janek our driver was excellent .. picked us up outside our accommodation and gave us information and recommendations during the drive in the air conditioned minibus. He was there to pick us up when the tour in the mine finished too. We only wished that the tours in the mine had also been operated by Krakowfy ! The tour for people with mobility issues was actually provided by the mine . We descended the mine in an old lift .. it was very packed but didn’t take long. There were lots of long corridors to walk down .. which could be an issue for people with limited mobility. Our main gripe has nothing to do with Krakowfy tours who were excellent throughout ,but with the mine itself guide. Perhaps more training is required . At the end of the tour the guide decided as everyone was walking we would be able to descend several steps to the lifts back to the surface . Although we had headphones and commentary several of us missed this. Being able to walk on a flat surface does not mean you can walk easily down steps ! I was a bit upset as we specifically booked this so no walking down steps was involved. I think the guide was thinking he could show us more this way. As mentioned before this was in no way anything to do with Krakowfy ( we understand are taking the issue up with the mine). So people booking in future should not have this problem hopefully.

Transport and tour arrangements at its best.

The salt mine is fantastic. However, I will also give my highest recommendations to The Tours Brothers. The driver (the owner) did his outmost to have our trips go as planned and we even had the extra complication that one our travel party was partly disabled. He made sure everything was in order with respect to special tour times and such. We also used The Tours Brothers to go to Auswitch and to/from the Airport. Timely, punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. Can only recommend.

    Fantastic Tour Company

If you are looking for easy and convenient transport around Krakow or the surrounding regions, you should book with Kamil at Tours Brothers. Kamil is super friendly and knowledgeable. He's spent years in the business driving tourists from around the world throughout Poland. You'll be able to spend more time exploring the sites you want to see rather than trying to figure out how to get around. He knew exactly where to go to drop us off and pick us up in the most convenient locations.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. What should I bring or wear?

    +

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
