Doune Castle
We depart Edinburgh and make our way to Doune Castle, otherwise known as Castle Leoch in the Outlander series or Winterfell in Game of Thrones. In real life, Doune Castle is a purpose-built 14th century military stronghold, and an impressive example of medieval Scottish architecture. We then make our way to the charming village of Tyndrum, which lies at the southern edge of Rannoch Moor.

Worth trip
The tour was very well-organized and our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Regrettably, the Doune Castle was closed. However, the guide arranged to visit the Kelpies instead. Nice sculptures. Fantastic Inveraray Castle. The rest and be thankful in Scotland was breathtaking and unforgettable. The last stop - natural features in Luss were beautiful also. Adequate time for exploration.

An enjoyable highland tour
Our tour guide, Alistair, was a knowledgeable and entertaining storyteller and historian, filling us in on the history of the places and people we were visiting. I also appreciated his eclectic music playlist and skillful navigation of the narrow roads!
