Great tour and guide

Great tour and an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable, friendly and kept everyone on time at each stop. A really enjoyable experience and highly recommended. 👍🏽 My only minor criticism would be that, given the distances travelled and time spent on the tour, complimentary bottles of water should be included. Apart from that, a fantastic tour and highly recommended! 👍🏽

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that our guide made the experience informative and enjoyable. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the complimentary water and will certainly pass this suggestion on to the team. We hope to welcome you back again in the future!

This is a total scam. It...

This is a total scam. It all begins with an error from the company that told us to be at the pick up point at 8:30 in the morning, we got there 10 minutes earlier to find out that we have missed the shuttle to the real pick up point, so we had to take an Uber to go to the real pick up point. We promptly complaint about this and the employee of the company said someone made a mistake because they should have told us to be at the pick up point at 8:00. In addition, we only learned that the tour did not include the price for the boat after we have paid. On the day of the tour, we learned from our guide that tickets for the boat should have been bought in advance, and that he would try to see if there was a cancelattion upon our arrival at Hermanos. Of course all boats were fully booked by the time we got there. Personally, I was lucky to be able to purchase an extra spot in one boat from a nice lady that had an extra ticket because her husband could not make it. But the rest of the tourists were frustrated since they did not have tickets and getting there it was impossible to buy tickets since the boats were fully booked with no last minute cancellations. In the end, we paid for an expensive wine tasting (not avalible for the ones lucky enough to be in the boat), far away from Cape Town. Additionally, one of the partner boat companies was unavaible due to their boat that was broken. The company should have had the descence to allow refundable cancelations in such cases. As I said, I was lucky to find an extra ticket for the boat from one of the tourists in our group, but all the other 10 people lost the day, out of 15 in the total group.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. It isn’t accurate to describe this tour as a “scam”. The tour is structured so that the whale watching cruise is an optional, separately bookable experience, and this is clearly communicated in our materials. Specifically, we provide: A clear note that the cost of the whale watching cruise is not included in the tour price Instructions on how to book the cruise in advance Contact details and options for two different whale watching companies, so guests can secure their own boat tickets ahead of time The exclusion of the boat ticket and the need to book it separately are disclosed in our brochure and tour information. This is a standard part of how the tour is set up, not an attempt to mislead anyone. Regarding your departure: We’ve checked our records and can confirm that no pickup point was selected on your booking. Your ticket was scanned at 08:21 at the V&A Waterfront stop, which is correct for the 08:30 departure from there. The shuttle departs Stop 5 at 08:00, so your boarding time and location were in line with the scheduled operation of the tour. We understand that expectations and experiences can differ, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify how the tour works and how the timings and exclusions are communicated.

It was z great...

It was z great experience! Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He told us a lot about the Hermanus and a lot of places on the way there. Me and my friend plus three other people from our group did not go on the boat tour once we got to the harbor, so he took us to the place where we could see the whales from the shore. We all had a great time.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you had a great experience and enjoyed learning more about Hermanus and the surrounding areas. We’re especially pleased our guide could help make the day enjoyable by showing you a great spot to view the whales from shore. We hope to welcome you again soon.

Nice day trip to Hermanus & whales too!

If you choose to do the boat trip to see whales, take motion sickness pills before going. Whales can be seen from shore in Hermanus most of the time.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your helpful feedback! We're glad you enjoyed your time in Hermanus and appreciate you sharing these tips with fellow travellers. We hope to welcome you again soon!

From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.

How much does From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $745 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.

Is From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 175 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour?

+

Around 61 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does From Cape Town: Full Day Guided Hermanus and Whale Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cape Town?

+

On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cape Town?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
