Fantastic Day
Rotorua is a must! So many great experiences to have there, one day is barely enough. But I’m grateful for this tour that gave me an excellent overview. And our guide, David, was simply superb.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the lovely review! We completely agree — there’s so much to see and experience in Rotorua that one day barely scratches the surface, but we’re glad the tour gave you a good taste of what makes the region so special. And thank you for the kind words about David. We’ll definitely pass this on to him — he’ll be thrilled to know he helped make your day extra enjoyable. Thank you for choosing Expedigo and supporting our small family business!

The weather is abit too...
The weather is abit too misty, therefore not able to see the full colors for the wai-o-tapu. As for the Polynesian spa, its very relaxing and they give you ample of time to relax in the hot pools. There is 4 different temperature pools and 1 cold plunge. I enjoyed alot. But you may need to be aware that there may be other people going to rotorua as well but participating in different activities.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re so glad you enjoyed your time at Wai-O-Tapu and especially loved relaxing at Polynesian Spa. The different hot pools and cold plunge really do make it such a great way to unwind after Waiotapu. Rotorua can be quite misty during the winter months, which can sometimes affect the visibility of Wai-O-Tapu’s colours. While the weather is something we can’t control, we’re glad you still enjoyed the experience and had such a relaxing time at the Polynesian Spa. We hope you had a wonderful day overall and enjoyed exploring Rotorua with us.

An excelent escape from the rush of the city
Though the tour started with a lot of fog because of the season, it later became one of the most beautiful sceneries I've ever seen in my life. Jason, our tour guide, was lovely and did teach me a few interesting facts about NZ and some Māori phrases. The Polynesian spa was amazing in this cold weather. I forgot my swimsuit, but luckily they rented me one. Overall would recommend this tour if you want to learn and see some breathtaking views while also relaxing.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. Winter mornings can certainly be a little foggy, but we're so glad it cleared and you got to experience Rotorua at its best. It really is a special part of New Zealand. We're delighted to hear Jason helped make your day even more enjoyable with his stories, local knowledge, and a few Māori phrases along the way. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to him. And we're pleased the forgotten swimsuit didn't get in the way of enjoying the Polynesian Spa! There's nothing quite like soaking in the warm mineral pools on a cold day. Thanks again for travelling with us. It was a pleasure having you on tour, and we hope to see you again the next time you're exploring New Zealand.

Day Tour
Went for a Waiotapu & Polynesian Spa at Rotorua tour from Auckland with Jamie as the tour guide. Although the journey was far, the destinations were wonderful. Time allocated for both places were adequate to enjoy. Water and snack was also provided which was great. There were also stops for toilet and coffee
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for sharing this—we really appreciate you taking the time. Rotorua is a bit of a journey from Auckland, so it’s great to hear you felt it was well worth it and that you had enough time to properly enjoy both Waiotapu and the Polynesian Spa. Jamie will be really happy to hear your feedback—he’s great at pacing the day so it never feels rushed while still making sure everything runs smoothly. Glad the little touches like the snacks, water, and comfort stops along the way made a difference too. Thanks again for coming along with us, and we hope to see you back for another adventure sometime!

Great day out
This is a great day trip! You share the day with a group but everyone splits to do different things in Rotorua. I honestly had no idea there was so much to do! You’ll be up early for this one, but it’s worth it. I did the geothermal pools and the thermal spa - love it. I also got the see a bit of the redwood forest because of a drop off and timing allowed me to catch the cultural show for a nominal fee (if your combo doesn’t include the village but you get the chance to see the show, go). The coach is comfy and David was determined to make sure everyone had a good time and was accommodating in all things. If you’re in two minds, book this. It’s a great day trip and worth the early wake up.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such a detailed and honest review — we really appreciate it. Rotorua surprises a lot of people with just how much there is to see and do, so it’s great to hear you made the most of your time there. An early start isn’t always easy, but we’re glad it paid off! The geothermal pools and thermal spa are hard to beat, and it sounds like you timed it perfectly to squeeze in the Redwoods and the cultural show as well — that’s a full day done right. David will love reading this. He genuinely cares about making sure everyone feels looked after, so your comments will mean a lot to him. Thanks again for the encouragement to future travellers — and for choosing to spend your day with us.

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.
How much does From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $230 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.
Is From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 46 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does From Auckand: Waiotapu and Polynesian Spa Rotorua Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Auckland?
+
On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Auckland?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Auckland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
