  1. FRIM -Forest Research Institute of Malaysia

Tour start around 09:00 am and 02:00 pm for private and 09:00 am for Seat in Coach with the hotel pickup (selected hotel around Kuala Lumpur city). it will takes approximately 1 hour journey to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM). Along the way you pass through typical Malay Villagers and scenes of friendly people going about their daily chores. Once arrive at the forest institute , you will be introduced to the nature trekking guide. An introduction of the place and activities will be carried out immediately on arrival before proceeding with jungle trekking. Please wear a appropriate attire for this activities. As you enter the trekking trails, you will be amazed by the arboretums or living museum of trees. Walk through the many nature trails and discover the many species of flora and fauna here. Of particular interest is the "puzzle-like" pattern of the individual tree crowns separated by gaps and outlined against the sky. This phenomenon is called "Crown Shyness". The reason for its name is because the leaf tips of the Dryobalanops aromatica appear to be shy towards their own kind, hence forming the gap. This tree is also known as kapur tree and has a nice-smelling exudate known as camphor, one of the main component of making ointment. The ointment is used for stomach massages after child delivery. After about an hour in the jungle and enjoy learning new things, we packed up and return back to hotel.

FRIM Trekking Tour

Overall a good experience. However, the nature trekking was a bit short. Booked for morning slot but was only informed when arrived FRIM that no tour guide is available and we can't proceed, had to reschedule to 12pm slot. The driver who was in charge of our transport was extremely friendly, helpful and responsible, a big shout out to Mr Mohd Fauzi from Asni Global.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you had a good experience overall and that Mr. Mohd Fauzi made your trip enjoyable with his friendliness and professionalism. 😊 We truly appreciate your understanding about the reschedule and will work to improve communication for future tours. Hope to welcome you again soon!

very disappointed.

It should be clearly and in large letters that the contents shown in the photo incur additional charges. I was really looking forward to it, but I'm disappointed. The guide and pick-up driver said that people nowadays only think about making money and making money, but this experience tour is really a tour that only thinks about making money. The review is not helpful.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you were disappointed. We truly value your input and will work to make our pricing and tour details clearer, especially regarding optional activities and extra charges. We appreciate you sharing your experience and will use it to improve. Best regards, Asni Global Team

FRIM - a nice nearby getaway from the bustling city KL!

It’s a nice getaway from the bustling activity of Kuala Lumpur! Situated in Kepong, the institute is a green lung and full of interesting plants in a man made jungle that was started almost 100 years ago! Lots of nice types of accommodation for those who like staying close to nature, they have hostels, camping grounds, chalets and even colonial type bungalows for rental and events!

Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuala Lumpur.

How much does Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $53 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuala Lumpur usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuala Lumpur is not rushed.

Is Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kuala Lumpur, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuala Lumpur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuala Lumpur and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Nature Trekking Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuala Lumpur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?

+

On Outty we rank every Kuala Lumpur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Genting Highland & Batu Cave Guided Day Tour (SIC/Shared Tour), Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
