About this experience
Get a real taste of Athens strolling around the central neighborhoods which are scattered with ruins and monuments. Athens is also a very walkable and modern city but when leaving the main roads and walkways you may find yourself in a maze of side streets. There are plenty of reasons to travel to Athens but the best, and perhaps most important, is to try the incredible food. Food in Greece is so much a part of our culture. It literally is a culture of its own. And I am going to show you how locals eat, by way of my favorite eateries. We will visit the Greek Gastronomy Museum, have traditional Greek coffee (made the old fashion way) and try an ancient sweet dating back to the original Olympic games just to name a few major stops on this scrumptious tour. Your taste buds will be jumping for joy. So please eat lightly before hand so you can take it all in.

Do the Athens food tour with Angela!
Wonderful time spent with tour guide Angela walking through the streets of central Athens while tasting various Greek foods and going to a traditional Greek coffee house. Also visited the fish, meat, and produce markets.Stopped to rest in the court yard of an 11th Century Byzantine church 🙂
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a pleasure sharing authentic Greek food, local markets, traditional Greek coffee, and hidden corners of Athens with you. So happy you enjoyed the Byzantine church courtyard and the real local experience in central Athens. Hope to see you again for more Athens food tours and Greek culture experiences!

Food tour of Athens
Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. She took us to places we wouldn't have dreamed of going to. She wasn't just knowledgeable about the food, but Athens in general. Nothing was too much trouble.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed your tour and that your guide was able to take you beyond the typical spots, offering you a more authentic and in-depth experience of Athens. It’s especially rewarding to know that her knowledge — not only of the local food but also of the city itself — helped make your time with us both enjoyable and memorable. We’re proud to work with guides who truly go the extra mile for our guests.

A very pleasant tour by a superb guide with many tastes and experiences.
The guide Elias was absolutely fantastic! He had the ability to see everyone in the group and a star at learning everyone's names. The tour was personal and the guide took us to places that for him are personal. The food and drink was good and showed some examples of Greek gastronomy. Recommend the tour with joy and praise!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and kind words about Elias! We’re delighted to hear that he made such a positive impression and created a personal, engaging experience for everyone in the group. His ability to connect with guests and share meaningful, authentic places is exactly what makes our tours special. We’re also glad you enjoyed the food and drinks — a true taste of Greek gastronomy!

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Food Tour in Athens: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Food Tour in Athens cost?
+
Prices start at $57 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Food Tour in Athens take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Food Tour in Athens worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Food Tour in Athens?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Food Tour in Athens suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Food Tour in Athens?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Food Tour in Athens start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
