River cruise rookies
Our host was very knowledgeable about the wine and food pairings. My only feedback would be to branch out and pair other wines beside dry wines

An experience not to missed
We met with Lidia our sommelier for an evening which we absolutely loved. Lidia was most knowledgable and shared this with us. We were entertained and educated about Hungarian wines and vineyards. We learned about different grape varietys, the difference that the storage of the wine has on the flavour. It was the most wonderful evening and lidia was a wonderful host.

A great way to learn about Hungarian wines
This was one of the highlights of our visit to Budapest. Our Sommelier, Atilla, was very knowledgeable and gave a thorough background on the wine industry and methods in Hungary. The one disappointment was the food. This is the description I read: "sample a range of Hungarian dishes from one of the city’s most popular restaurants." We had a ham and cheese platter with some olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Then a small-bite, yummy dessert. There was no range of dishes to sample. There was nothing "Hungarian" that I haven't had before in the US.

Hungarian wines discovered
Our sommelier, Lidia, was both extremely knowledgeable & had practical experience of Hungarian viniculture. Through her expertise we enjoyed 6 superb Hungarian wines ranging from crisp whites to flavoursome reds, guiding us through how best to enjoy each with complementary charcuterie & cheeses.

Exceptional Wine Tasting
This was an outstanding evening. Our sommelier, Lidia, was knowledgeable and passionate about wine. We learned so much from her expertise as we tasted several different Hungarian wines. The tasting took place at Platz, an eclectic restaurant with a fun vibe. The charcuterie board featured delicious local meats and cheeses. All in all, it was a great evening and we highly recommend. This is one of the tours we will remember most fondly in our European travels. Lidia made all the difference with her attention to detail, interesting stories and engaging manner, not to mention her vast knowledge of wine from around the world.

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.
How much does Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.
Is Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 60 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier?
+
Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Food and Wine Tasting in Budapest City Center with Sommelier start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Budapest?
+
On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Budapest?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Budapest?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
