Good food tour with a fantastic guide

I want to start this review by saying Kelly, our guide, was absolutely fantastic and I give her five stars. I really liked her presentation and the way she tried to connect with everyone in the group. However, the group was 20 people, which is far too large for a food tour. There was some administrative glitch with my booking - Carpe Diem contacted me and asked me to reschedule for the following night, but then tried to charge me a balance for rescheduling. Kelly handled that quickly, thankfully. My third reason for giving this tour four stars instead of five was the restaurant where they took us for the main course. It was good but not great. I’ve been on a lot of food tours and the food should make you want to go back for seconds. The general consensus at my table is that we would not go back to that restaurant. These are not huge issues and I would consider booking with this company again, but just something to be aware of.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Allison! We truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that Kelly made such a positive impression with her warm and engaging guidance, and we'll be sure to share your kind words with her. We also appreciate your comments about the group size, the booking issue, and the restaurant, as they help us improve the experience for future guests. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to host you, and we hope to welcome you back on another tour soon!

our guide Eszti did a great job

Really enjoyed this tour, we booked it for the first night of our stay which was definitely a good move. Nice to meet other travellers to the city an learn more from our guide Eszti who did a great job, friendly and personable, made everyone feel very welcome, super English and shared lots of recommendations. I wasn't anticipating being full but we were well fed! Well considered food stops, local insights shared and plenty of recommendations and top tips for maximising the rest of our visit to the city. We definitely ate and drank things we would not have discovered without this tour, cherry beer!! Delish! Thank you

Response from the operator: Thank you! We're so glad you enjoyed the tour and that it was a great way to start your stay in Budapest. It's wonderful to hear Eszti made everyone feel welcome and shared helpful local tips, recommendations, and delicious Hungarian specialties. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words, and hope to see you again on another adventure!

Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.

How much does Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks cost?

    +

Prices start at $74 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.

Is Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 90 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks?

    +

Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Flavors of Budapest: Guided Food Tour with Drinks start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Budapest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Budapest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Budapest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
