1. Housed within Sharjah's first airport building, the Al Mahatta Museum is an aviation museum established in the year 2000 highlighting the history of flight in the UAE and the region. The airport was used in the 1930s as a staging post for commercial flight routes from Britain to India. Sheikh Sultan Bin Saqr built a rest house, known as The Fort, to accommodate the crew and passengers for the overnight stop. The first stopover in Sharjah of a passenger flight from London's Croydon airport to India was on the 5th of October 1932. In 1940 the British Royal Air Force built its own facilities adjacent to The Fort and extended the runway. In 1956, a new Control Tower was opened, which operated up until the new Sharjah International Airport opened in 1977. After this time, the fort was abandoned and was restored and opened as a museum in 2000.

2. King Faisal Mosque

   King Faisal Mosque The King Faisal Mosque is one of the largest, beautiful and most iconic mosques in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Covering approximately 12,000 m², the majestic King Faisal Mosque will provide you with the opportunity of capturing interesting photographs and witnessing some mind-boggling architecture as well. The Mosque name was derived after the erstwhile ruler of Saudi Arabia named King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

3. Blue Souk

   Explore a dazzling array of handicrafts at this traditional Arabic souk. When you’re thinking about what to do in Sharjah, the Central Souk should be among your first stops. With a well-known blue tile-trimmed facade - the Central Souk is an iconic landmark on the Sharjah map and is one of the city’s most photographed buildings. This souk is also symbolic of the history of UAE, featuring prominently on the five-dirham note.

4. Sharjah Fort - Al Hisn

   Encounter fascinating galleries of photographs, objects, stories that provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the history of Sharjah. Built in 1823 and fortified by three towers, Al Hisn fort has served as a seat of government, a royal residence, a prison and now a museum. A row of cannons welcomes visitors, with 12 galleries offering insight into the emirate and its ruling family. Step inside a round prison cell, discover how to properly present a sword to a sheikh, and pour over historic photographs, old weaponry and exhibits about the naval strength of Sharjah’s Qawasim tribe.

6. Ajman Museum

   jman Museum is the emirate’s foremost museum illustrating life as it once was. The 18th-century fort served as the ruler’s residence until 1970, before it was converted into a museum a decade later.

9. Al Jazirat Al Hamra

   Al Jazirah Al Hamra is a town to the south of the city of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. It is known for its collection of abandoned houses and other buildings, including a mosque, which is widely believed locally to be haunted. The town was ruled by the Zaab tribe, which was rehoused in Abu Dhabi following a dispute with the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

10. Dibba Al Fujairah

    Dibba Al-Fujairah is a city in the emirate of Fujairah, located on the northeast part of the United Arab Emirates. It is geographically part of the Dibba region. Dibba Al-Fujairah is considered to be the second largest city in the emirate of Fujairah after Fujairah City.

11. Al Bidya Mosque

    This historic mosque is nestled between Khor Fakkan and Dibbah Al Fujairah and is the oldest mosque in the UAE, with its construction dating back to the year 1446. It boasts a unique architecture style with four domes, making it a popular tourist destination for residents and visitors alike.

12. Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre

    Soak up local culture at the impressive Khorfakkan Amphitheatre. Inspired by Roman architecture, it has rapidly become a celebrated local landmark. The newly-built amphitheater covers over 1700m2 and can accommodate over 3500 spectators. It was designed with a state-of-the-art cooling system, making it the ideal out-door venue for upcoming events. Hungry visitors can also sample delicious dishes at the amphitheater’s restaurant and café. A magnificent 45m-high waterfall cascades down next to the amphitheater. Although the waterfall is man-made, it was carved out of natural rock and is often illuminated at night. The structure was built with viewing windows at the top, which are sometimes open to the public. From there, visitors can watch water flow down the rock. Both the amphitheater and waterfall face Khorfakkan’s shimmering bay, so visitors can enjoy a wander along the beach before enjoying a spectacular show.

13. A unique way to explore Khorfakkan’s mountains, Cloud lounge is a recently built mountain-side rest stop that lies 600 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views across Khorfakkan. As you pass through the entrance, you will find a range of wonderful facilities including a luxury restaurant. The complex, built with a carefully-designed, safe road includes viewing points along the way.

14. This charming little village on top of the mountains will take you on a journey through history. Explore historical monuments dating back back to 2000 BC in this project which allows visitors to enjoy the emirate’s diverse natural landscapes. Historical houses built of silt and stones, dating back more than a hundred years, are in the process of being converted into luxurious modern accommodation for guests to experience a glimpse into the traditional life of the region. Within a short walk, you can reach the top of the mountain where the upper fort, used to defend the village some three centuries ago, was located.

15. Al Rafisah Dam

    Heading toward Khorfakkan on the new Sharjah – Khorfakkan highway opens up a vista of the beautiful Al Rafisah Dam. Originally built in the 1980s, the dam has had an upgrade with a new visitor centre and rest area. Travel time from Sharjah to Khorfakkan has been reduced to 45 minutes, due to the new road, allowing more visitors to enjoy the serene pleasures of the area where a large, clear lake with boating facilities is overlooked by the magnificent Hajar mountains. The scenery is unmatched with the sandstone mountain range looming over a pure azure reservoir with its accompanying tranquil green landscape and man-made waterfall, perfect for nature lovers and outdoors enthusiasts.
