Mandarin speaker enhanced excellent experience for 80 year old senior & daughter. :)

Travelled with my 80 year old Mandarin speaking mother. I had requested for a Mandarin speaker if possible and had no expectations - we were most delighted with Hanna. Her conversational Mandarin was good enough for my mother to enjoy the morning of house farm visit, marketing, coffee and cooking and have a more than decent conversation, which was brilliant. Experience - excellent local experience to visit a farm with fresh vegetables produce. Then went to a wet market, introduced to some of the local fruits, had time for coffee (try the salted coffee with cream!) and returned to a home for the 4 dishes of cooking. Food - It was fun, we ate as we cooked and the dishes were most delicious. (Pho, pancake with rice rolls brinjal or aubergine in clay pot and papaya / mango salad). We love them all. Service - Hanna was sweet, most considerate in taking care of my elderly mum on a rainy day and her instructions were clear. We dropped by a supermarket and she helped us with a few purchases. If you are travelling with someone who speaks Mandarin , Hanna is the person to ask for. Her English is good of course. And she is most patient. Superb customer service. We had a most wonderful experience and would certainly recommend her and this company!

Highly recommended cooking class in Hoi An!

My brother and I had a great time at cooking with Jolie. We started by learning about traditional farming, followed by a market visit and cooking. The instructors are very knowledgeable and make the class very fun. The selected menu is nice, represents typical dishes in the area which are very tasty and not hard to do later at home! Some fun competitions take place during the course, but I am not going to spoil you, just go and enjoy!

Response from the operator: Dear valued guest. Thank you for choosing Cooking with Jolie in Hoi An. We're thrilled to have been a part of your Vietnam journey, and we look forward to hearing about your culinary adventures as you practice your new skills at home. An incredible experience!

A thoroughly enjoyable cooking class! This cooking class with Jolie Villa included a trip to the nearby vegetable village, local market, coffee shop, and (of course!) the cooking and eating. It was a well planned morning from start to finish. Very professional, but also lots of fun. We made a variety of vegetarian dishes (they adapted recipes for us!), such as summer rolls, bánh xèo, pho and more. We loved preparing the food and playing games along the way. We learnt so much from Hanna, who led our morning. Kelly and Hanna were extremely knowledgable, chatty and lots of fun. We‘ve made memories for life, and recommend this class to everybody visiting Hoi An!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your excellent review! We are delighted you had an exceptional experience at our cooking class in Hoi An. Our team takes pride in providing a warm and welcoming environment, ensuring every guest feels at ease. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the delicious dishes prepared during the class. We aim to offer the best cooking class in Hoi An, Vietnam, and your feedback reaffirms that we are on the right track. We strive to create a friendly and relaxing atmosphere where guests can truly immerse themselves in the culinary delights of Hoi An. We appreciate your recommendation and invite others to join us for an unforgettable cooking experience. We hope to welcome you back soon for more delightful moments! Kindest regards from Jolie Cooking Class!

Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.

How much does Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1) cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1) take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.

Is Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1)?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1) suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1)?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Farming- Market- Coffee- Cooking (JHA1) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

+

On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hoi An?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hoi An?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
