Love food … take a cooking course with a local chef

Lihn was a wonderful host and made me feel comfortable from the moment we left my hotel. No one else had booked the session and so I had a wonderful one-on-one cooking class with him. We shared stories. He took me around the farm and we picked fresh herbs, oyster mushrooms and my first papaya from a tree. The class itself was informative and very hands on. I was able to eat as we went. The four courses were delicious. Highly recommend. As a solo traveler this was a great way to see local culture and gain some recipes I will continue to use at home.

    Amazing tour!

Alice was an amazing tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about Vietnamese history and agriculture. She was friendly and answered our million questions. She was delightful to cook with and made the day a very fun and educational experience!

Simple, yummy food, great teacher chef

Great hosting organisation, the guide was on time, polite and very chatty and happy, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The location of the farm is 1-1.5 hours North-West of Ho Chi Minh City. We were here during rainy season, but it was cosy and we had the host all to ourselves. The farm is small, but more than sufficient to experience a little bit of local nature and farming habits. The company hosting the cooking class has also many different business ideas: farming school, cashew factory, restaurant, team building event grounds. During the class we cooked 4 dishes: 1 starter, 2 mains and 1 dessert. All were very yummy. The teacher chef Alice had a very special way of teaching us, involving small stories and a fun language that made it easy to remember and learn. Everything was done in extremely safe and clean conditions. I would really recommend this homey experience to whomever is wants to enjoy a bit of simple and healthy food and a great out-of-the-city experience.

    Amazing, filling experience

Chef Alice was a great instructor; she was so sweet, and we learned a lot about Vietnamese sauce philosophy and the medicinal properties of herbs! We had a total class size of 5, and everyone agreed that the 4 dishes we made were altogether very very filling. I didn't expect the traffic to and from the farm to be pretty bad and make it about 2 hours each way, but it was still in a very nice van with AC - we also had complimentary water on the way back to the urban area. We also got some certificates at the end of the class

    Alice was wonderful!

The cooking class was overall fun and educational. We were picked up on time, travelled by A/C van, and learned quite a bit about the medicinal uses of the herbs and vegetables at the farm Alice was kind, spoke good English, and the cooking was fun. We saw cows, a water buffalo, unleashed dogs, and some kittens. We also harvested from a mushroom-growing area. The cooking stations were spacious and they were in a space that doubles as a cashew factory, without loud machines, just quiet workers sorting cashews, which are available for purchase. Make sure you wear shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy.

Is Farm-To-Table Healthy Cooking Class in Ho Chi Minh City worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
