Family Fun Hiking Adventure
Doug was an excellent guide for our hiking adventure being our first time in Arizona. Unfortunately, our first attempt at the hike had to be rescheduled because there was a sandstorm as well as thunder and lightning. Apparently we came during the off-season but they still allowed us to reschedule for a later date and it did not disappoint. I went with my four children. Age ranges 10 to 25 years and he was very patient with all of us including the youngest one. He also gauged our activity level and made some modifications based on that. I would highly recommend you request Doug specifically and book with Mad Desert Trekking!
Response from the operator: Monica, talk about a wild welcome to Arizona! ⚡️🌪️ We are so glad you gave your adventure another shot after a monsoon storm delayed the first attempt! We're glad your guide Doug kept your and your crew smiling, safe and moving forward. Thanks for rolling with the punches and trusting us with your Family Fun Guided Hiking Adventure in the Sonoran Desert! 🌵🏜️⚡️ — Matt Kalina | Owner | Mad Desert Trekking | Scottsdale, AZ Intense Human-Powered Sonoran Desert Adventures 🏜🦎☀️🌵

Amazing Hike
Amazing family-friendly adventure. Doug was an exceptional, incredibly knowledgeable guide. Our littlest one (8) was pumped to have completed her first legit hike and learn all about the native landscape. Thanks Mad Desert Trekking!

The best way to experience the Sonoran Desert!
We had the most amazing time on our family guided hike! Michael was our guide and was absolutely incredible! Our kids (ages 4 and 9) loved the experience just as much as we did. They learned the difference between all the different types of cacti and continued to point them out for the rest of our time in Arizona. Michael was knowledgeable and happily answered all the many questions from our kiddos along the way. This experience was definitely a highlight of our trip, and we fully intend to schedule another guided hike the next time we’re in Arizona! 10/10 recommend!
Response from the operator: Melissa, wow! Your review truly made our day! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you and your family had a great excursion in the Sonoran Desert on the Family Fun Guided Hiking Adventure with your guide Michael. We're glad the experience so enjoyable and educational for both you and your children. Thank you so much for the perfect 10/10 recommendation! We would absolutely love to welcome you and your family back for another guided hiking adventure the next time you're in Arizona! — Matt Kalina | Owner | Mad Desert Trekking | Scottsdale, AZ | Intense Human-Powered Sonoran Desert Adventures 🌄🦎☀️🌵

Fun family guided tour
We went on a 2 hour family hike this morning (2 adults, 1 teen, and 1 preteen). Henry was our guide. He a great job of communicating beforehand and he had backpacks and water for us at the meeting point. He was very nice, knowledgeable of the area, and was great at pointing out things and answering questions along the way . He also took some photos along the way and shared them with me afterwards. The hike was a nice pace and duration for us and we learned a lot. I recommend this hike for families!
Response from the operator: Janna, we're thrilled to hear your family enjoyed the Family Fun Guided Hiking Adventures with your guide Henry. We're glad his communication, knowledge and kindness made your experience so memorable. And, we're especially glad the pace and duration of the hike were perfect for your family, and that you learned a lot along the way. It means a lot to us that you recommend our family hike. We strive to create enjoyable and educational experiences for all our guests! — Matt Kalina | Owner | Mad Desert Trekking | Scottsdale, AZ | Intense Human-Powered Sonoran Desert Adventures 🌄🦎☀️🌵

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phoenix.
How much does Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free cost?
+
Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phoenix usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phoenix is not rushed.
Is Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phoenix, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phoenix can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phoenix and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Family Fun Guided Hike in Phoenix, Arizona | Kids 10 & under free start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phoenix within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Phoenix?
+
Phoenix runs on desert experiences: sunrise hot air balloon lifts over the Sonoran, Camelback and South Mountain hikes, off-road Tonto Forest tours and day trips to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Heat safety and start times decide whether a tour is good, so we weight timing detail in the ranking. On Outty we rank every Phoenix experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kayaking the Salt River Foxtail Trip, Small-Group or Private Grand Canyon with Sedona Tour from Phoenix, Grand Canyon with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon Van Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Phoenix?
+
November to April. Summer tours run at dawn or not at all. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Phoenix?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
