Botegena is a pathetic operation to Rosario islands
Botagena, exceptionally poor communication, bait and switch on boat reserved vs delivered, pick up location communicated completely incorrect, changed at last minute. Very rough water conditions for 1 hour each way, no warning from operator, beach club was nice and guide was very good but had to cover for extremely sloppy operator. Basic organization and execution was pathetic. Blamed it on us booking through Trip Advisor.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry that parts of your trip did not meet expectations, especially regarding communication, logistics, and sea conditions. Cartagena’s waters can occasionally be rough, and we acknowledge that we should have communicated conditions more clearly in advance. We also regret any confusion around pickup location and boat expectations — this is not the level of organization we aim to deliver. We appreciate your positive comments about the beach club and guide, and we take full responsibility for the operational shortcomings you mentioned. Your feedback has been shared internally and is being used to improve communication and execution moving forward. We would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and make things right.

Private tour to islands
We had the best time. The boat is in mint condition. The booking process was flawless and the price was right. They are not the cheapest but the price is reasonable for the service you get. Our host Camilo was great, He took care of every aspect of out trip and make us feel like loyalty. The captain and the helper were fantastic, smooth sailing and the best care from them. Overall a wonderfull experience. It is our second time using botegena and they did not disappoint. Highly recommended this company.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re happy to hear you appreciated the quality of the boat, smooth booking process, and overall service. Camilo takes great pride in making sure every detail is covered, and we’re glad he made your trip special. We hope to welcome you back again! 🌴🚤

Snorkeling Trip with No Gear
This tour advertises that snorkel gear is provided. Once we were on the boat, our guide, Isabella, asked what we would like to do. We had already communicated ahead of time when booking that we wanted to snorkel and explore relaxed beaches and areas of the islands away from the party scene. The ad for the experience listed snorkel gear as being included. When we asked about snorkeling, Isabella informed us that there wasn’t any on the boat. Then they found this guy selling random drinks on a floating kayak and borrowed three Ill-fitting, dirty masks and one snorkel (for four people reservation), and no flippers were available at all. It was irritating to have spent $1000 U.S. and watch all the other tours around us using quality materials as the family passed around one random, dirty snorkel. Major let down.

El Mejor
The Botegena team was eager to please, and created a seamless experience from boat selection to disembarking. Brayan, and the crew of the Black Sheep were extremely knowledgeable, and attentive to all of our needs. Whether you are looking for a knowledge filled tour, a relaxing day on the water, or a party, you can book with Botegena with confidence. My wife and I spent our 5 year anniversary with Botegena, and we couldn’t have been happier.
Response from the operator: It was a pleasure to have been part of your experience, thank you for the good comment, without a doubt the entire team was happy to have you on board. We hope to see you back soon!

Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands cost?
+
Prices start at $1,089 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Family Day Trip - Private Boat Charter To The Rosario Islands start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
