Once we pick you up from your hotel, we will drive to the north part of the island, where we start with Salamis, founded by Teucer, in 1180 BC. We will visit the theater, the spa, and the gym. Here is where St. Barnabas was born and killed, the saint who had accompanied St. Paul during his journey through Cyprus. We will continue to the medieval city of Famagusta, whose mighty walls symbolize the city’s glory of its historic past and the need to defend itself against attacks from enemies. Next, we will visit the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (converted into the mosque of Lala Mustafa Pasha) in which, at the time of the Lusignani, the coronation of many of the rulers of Cyprus and Jerusalem took place. We will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of Famagusta and see from the outside the citadel and the tower of Othello. Finally there will be a walk through the streets of Varosha, also known as Ghost town after the conflict of 1974.

    Rather disappointing planning

Pluses - guide explanations were OK Minuses: - picking up and dropping passengers from different hotels in different towns took approx . 1 h 20’ each way ( 2h40’ all day). If you start in Larnaca your day will be very long and most of it will be spent in the bus. The company should not pick up from so many villages- Larnaca should be enough! - I would advise the guide to talk to the group. For the first hour and an half our guide chatted nonstop with the driver without any introduction to the group or explaining how the day will unfold (other than asking if we have passports). - in Varosha the guide took off fast - less than half of the group could keep up, and the guide didn’t really wait for anyone. Few people could hear the guide talk. Several people got lost and missed part of the tour. It would be nice if the guide would pay attention to the group, try to gather people and explain which direction they will go etc. - here is probably the worst part. When one of the passengers told the guide that because the guide was rushing and passengers lost parts of the tour, the guide’s answer was: “But I didn’t walk fast; and anyway once you see 2-3 hotels you have seen it all”. This did not sound professional. - pickup in Larnaca was at 7:30. They said lunch will be at Famagusta- where we arrived after 1:30p. Food was not allowed in the bus and not much was available at the stops so we fasted first part of the day. I wish they would have told us so we could have planned accordingly. - once arrived in Famagusta we were told we have 1.5 hrs- of which the guided tour took 25’- leaving one hour to visit the city and eat lunch. There were only a few restaurants, we were starving and lunch took about 50 min, so we didn’t have time to visit Famagusta other than the central plaza and the restaurant.. Famagusta was very rushed. -the driver got lost in one of the neighborhoods and the bus ended up in a narrow cul de sac - it was very difficult to turn around. Whoever plans these tours needs to rethink the whole concept. Having almost 3 hours picking up tourists on a a long drive day is not OK.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you appreciated the guide’s explanations, and we’re truly sorry for the issues you experienced with timing, communication, and pacing during the tour. Your comments are very valuable, and we’ll review our processes to improve the itinerary and guest experience. We appreciate your input and hope to welcome you again under better circumstances.
