Falcon Fun!!
This was an amazing experience!!! The falcons were spectacular! We got to hold them and much more! Nashoud from Riyago Tours provided the transportation to the Falcon Hospital and picked us up from our hotel. He also provided some great information about Abu Dhabi, and also was so accommodating on the way back to make a few stops along the way. When we got to the Falcon Hospital, the very personable and knowledge guide told us all about these incredible creatures and explained their importance to the Emirati culture and history. We got to see many falcons waiting patiently in their dashing leather hoods for their routine checkups. We also witnessed a falcon getting a pedicure and foot massage (nail cutting/shaving/ shaping and foot skin treatment) and learned what the falcons need for their standard care. Best of all, I got to give the beautiful resident falcon her breakfast - she devoured that quail!

Great Falcon tour
Luckily for us we were the only ones on the tour so it made it even more special. Our guide Fuhad was very knowledgeable and excitable whilst talking about the falcons. We saw the hospital and watched as one falcon had their talons and beak trimmed. My husband then fed one and could hear every crunch of the bones. Had a great tour and thoroughly enjoyed.

Fun way to learn more about Emirati culture
First, I was picked up by Shijar, who was great to talk about his life in the UAE with. He was filled with interesting information about architecture, culture and able to answer many misc questions I’ve had. He made the hour drive zoom by. Second, the actual tour of the falcon hospital was great. Falcons are such a big part of culture here and it was fun to learn more from doctors about how they care for them. Getting such a close look at the actual birds was amazing!
