Great experience
Our entire family (parents and daughters aged 17 and 20) loved this adventure. We were picked up at our resort and driven to a central location; after everyone arrived, we took a truck up a long, bumpy road to a sort of base camp where our efficient guides made sure we had all the equipment we needed. After that, we repelled down 4 waterfalls, the highest of which was about 200 feet. In between falls there was a lot of hiking/scrambling down the canyon; this was arguably even more fun than the repelling, and our guides had a couple of fun surprises in store. This portion of the adventure was fairly demanding physically, and there were about 300 stairs to climb to get up to the base camp at the end. We loaded back in a truck for the trek down the mountain, where those of us continuing on to rafting transferred to another truck. There we were given tasty burritos, plantain chips, and juice. George, our fantastic guide, spent much of the 40 minute drive sharing safety/rafting tips so we showed up ready to go. Again we were greeted by a large team of guides who quickly outfitted us with gear. Our family of four was in one raft with our guide. George was extremely knowledgable and made the entire experience fun and safe. He also pointed out one sloth and several large iguanas in the tree tops. At the end of rafting, there was a 5 minute walk to a camp where we rinsed off and changed before being driven back to the original starting point where we enjoyed a delicious meal of rice, beans, and vegetables. The guides were pleasant and efficient, and the day really couldn’t have went any more perfectly, although we weren’t really clear if we were expected to tip the waterfall/rafting teams separately (or how to tip the waterfall team at all since there were so many of them). For any gluten free peeps: the burritos were not gluten free, so it’s a good idea to bring a small snack if you book a full day adventure. It’s also useful to note that there are separate photo packages for the morning and afternoon(the pictures were terrific and you can review them before deciding whether to purchase.)
Response from the operator: Hi, What an incredible adventure! 🤩🌿 We're so thrilled to hear that your entire family had such an amazing time exploring Costa Rica with us! 💦🌊 From rappelling down breathtaking waterfalls to the exciting canyoning hikes and rafting, it sounds like a day packed with adventure and unforgettable memories! 🧗♂️🚣♀️ We're so glad you enjoyed the little surprises along the way and appreciated George's knowledge and enthusiasm. 🦥🐊 Guides like George make the journey even more special, and it’s awesome that he pointed out the incredible wildlife. 🐾✨ Thank you for mentioning the meal options and tips about being gluten-free—we’ll take note of that to help future adventurers! 🍽️🥗 We're also happy to hear you loved the photos and the option to review before purchasing! 📸💖 Your thoughtful feedback about tipping is appreciated too. While it's optional, many of our guests do like to tip individually or as a group. For those curious, we’re happy to clarify at any time during the tour. 🙌💰 We can't wait to welcome you and your family back for another unforgettable experience. Until next time—¡Pura Vida! 🌟🇨🇷 Desafío Adventure Company Team

Unbelievable Adventure !
BEST adventure ! Rappelling and canyoning exceeded expectations. The Costa Rican shower will be never be forgotten. The hiking through the streams, around the rocks and through the forest was once in a lifetime. Rafting down the Balsa was an intense but the guide was confident and knowledgeable. Midway fruit was the best we had our whole stay. We saw TONS of wildlife and a living green wall which was breathtaking. Can’t recommend highly enough. Kids age 13 LOVED it. Don’t miss this !!!

It's wonderful to hear that both the natural beauty of Costa Rica and our knowledgeable guides contributed to your unforgettable experience. We're especially glad your kids loved it. Hope to see you and your family on another adventure soon!

Best part of my trip!
Loved this combo tour! The Gravity Falls tour was so much fun, a great mix of rappelling, rock climbing, and free jumps. The guides were amazing, lots of safety checks and very personable so you never got bored. Be aware there is an uphill hike out of the canyon afterwards. We did the rafting afterwards and it was also great but we were there during dry season so the river was a bit more tame than it could have been. It was still a lot of fun though and our guide knew how to push our raft into the rapids to get us soaked. He was also great at spotting wildlife from the river for us to see. The photos and videos we got from the Gravity Falls part of the tour turned out great. We used Desafio a few times and the experience was always excellent.
Response from the operator: We're really glad to hear that you enjoyed our combo tour and had a great time with the Gravity Falls and rafting activities. We appreciate your kind words about our guides and their ability to make the experience memorable. Thank you for choosing Desafío on several occasions and for sharing your wonderful experience. We hope to see you again soon!

Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3 cost?
+
Prices start at $203 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3 take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3 worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3 suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 13. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Extreme Combo, Gravity Falls Jumping and Rafting Class 2-3 start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
