2. Noah Purifoy Desert Art Museum

   The Noah Purifoy Desert Art Museum is an open-air sculpture site created by artist Noah Purifoy in the Mojave Desert, where he spent the last 15 years of his life building over 100 large-scale artworks from discarded materials like tires, appliances, and scrap metal. Spanning roughly 10 acres near Joshua Tree, the museum blurs the line between art and environment, allowing pieces to weather and decay naturally as part of their meaning. The work reflects themes of social commentary, creativity from “junk,” and the passage of time, offering visitors a raw, immersive experience that challenges traditional ideas of what a museum can be.

3. World Famous Crochet Museum

   The World Famous Crochet Museum is a tiny, quirky roadside attraction in Joshua Tree that showcases a dense collection of handmade crocheted items gathered by artist Shari Elf. Housed inside a bright green, repurposed photo booth, the museum is filled floor-to-ceiling with whimsical crocheted animals, objects, and oddities, celebrating the charm and creativity of handmade craft. Despite its small size, it’s become a beloved and offbeat stop that highlights folk art, nostalgia, and the joy of simple, imaginative creations.

4. The ARM (Alien Robot Museum) in Joshua Tree, California, is a small, quirky art space and gift shop located along 29 Palms Highway that focuses on alien- and robot-themed artwork and experiences. Part of the creative hub around Art Queen, it showcases imaginative, sci-fi-inspired pieces from local and visiting artists and often hosts events, art walks, and themed gatherings. Despite its name, it’s less of a traditional museum and more of a fun, offbeat desert attraction designed to celebrate creativity, extraterrestrial themes, and the unique, eclectic art culture of Joshua Tree.

5. Boho Desert Studio

   Boho Desert Studio is an aesthetic blending free-spirited bohemian, rugged desert, and nostalgic studio creating a warm, earthy, and soulful vibe. It's decor is by natural materials, a color palette inspired by desert landscapes, and unique, time-worn and handcrafted pieces throughout, located in Yucca Valley near Joshua Tree, CA. Local Art Tours and Metaphysics led by Bohiemian Michaela Mokrosova.

6. The Joshua Tree Retreat Center, home of the Institute of Mentalphysics, is the oldest and largest retreat center in the Western United States and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on January 17, 2023. As a non-profit 501(c)3, our mission is to be a retreat center for individuals and groups to create and experience new ways to approach spiritual living and personal well-being. We are raising funds to improve the property and the restoration of the largest collection of Lloyd Wright buildings in the country that grace the property and house our retreats. In addition, we are in the process of digitizing and publishing the ancient Tibetan teachings given to Ding Le Mei during his extraordinary life.
