Good trip knowledgeable guide
I had an amazing time hiking in Sierra Norte with Ivan! He's super knowledgeable about the area, nature, and local culture, and I really appreciated that he practices eco-tourism and shows a lot of respect for the environment. The hike itself wasn't easy, but the views were absolutely worth it - truly stunning! We were joined by a local guide too, which made the experience even more authentic. And the breakfast and lunch were so good! Ivan was a fantastic guide from start to finish, and I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful and rewarding outdoor adventure.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this thoughtful review! It was a pleasure sharing the Sierra Norte with you. We're especially happy to hear that you appreciated the local knowledge, cultural insights, and our commitment to responsible tourism. Working alongside local guides is an important part of creating authentic experiences while supporting the communities that make these adventures possible. We're glad you found the challenge worthwhile and that the views, food, and overall experience made for a memorable day. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back to Oaxaca for another adventure in the future!

Great hike, super guide
The hike is well organised and the guide is very sensitive to the physical capacity of each hiker. He adjusted the walking speed and breaks accordingly. The group is small. The travel to and from the hiking trail is very comfortable. To add to the experience, our guide was very generous with information on the environment and wildlife as we meandered through the beautiful forest.

Hiking outside Oaxaca
We traveled to Sierra Norte with Ivan! One of our favorite experiences of our trip. The hike was moderate (be ready for inclines/declines) and for delicious food made in the village. (Get the chicken mole) The trip was a wonderful way to see the nature surrounding Oaxaca. Highly recommend.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
