    Do not recommend this tour

We booked a tour that was meant to take 1.5 hours to Pompeii and took 3 hours. When we arrived, we were told there's another bus from Sorrento 45 minutes away which we have to wait for in order for the tour to start. There was no apology, just a guide with a bad attitude. I asked what time will lunch be, and she said "I have no idea, we're already 2 hours behind." Rude! She later advised the pre-paid lunch would not be till around 3.30 so during the 45-minute wait she suggested we buy our own food and water. No offer of a voucher to cover us buying a snack, and when the tour started, no apology again for the delay.

I would not recommend this tour at all!

They give you tickets to take the train and you meet your tour guide in Pompeii. There they give you ticket to the Pompeii park. At Vesuvius they gave you tickets to enter, but no guide at all. You basically climb up and back. It was terrible. We could’ve done this for half the price.

    Reasonable experience but ridiculously over-priced

We did a tour of Pompeii on one day and a trip up Mt Vesuvius the next day. Both were fine in their own way but the cost of each is ridiculous for what you get. For instance, we paid just over 30 Euro each for a ticket which cost the company 18 Euro - this turned out to be an Express ticket so we couldn't visit the whole of the site. Admittedly, we did get an audio guide but the cost is still unjustifiable. The Vesuvius trip was also annoying as tour companies appear to buy up all the available tickets and this leads none to be bought by the general public. This led to us pay 35 Euros each for an entrance ticket and bus trip which in total would have come to about 15 Euros. Unfortunately, this is fairly common in this part of Italy where you have to pay through the nose to do pretty much anything. We've been to most areas of Italy over the years and loved it. We certainly won't be coming back to Naples and the Amalfi coast again.

    Pompeii was great

Pompeii history and tour guide was great . Very interesting and informative . The Vesuvius Tour was a very long walk . No toilets on the top . And toilets near drop off were disgusting. We were all very disappointed.

We had a great experience with Tempio Travel-Pompei Tour Organizer and would use it again. Etorre Arcari, who works at Sorrento agency; was the best and did a great job of giving us information and suggestions for our trip. Everything was so well organized and thought out of it was a perfect mix of "group time" with "me time" for exploring on our own.

Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.

How much does Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.

Is Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Explore Pompeii & Hike Vesuvius – All-Inclusive Day Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sorrento?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sorrento?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sorrento?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
