Casual, conversational tour packed with information!

Wonderful, informal, but extremely informative tour by Michael. From the broad sweep of Dutch history to little details covering the past through present, Michael is a wealth of knowledge, and shared it with us in a conversational, nature way. We really enjoyed the tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! It was a pleasure sharing our passion for Amsterdam with you. Glad you enjoyed the time, the sites and all the information we could provide! All the best and Happy Holidays. Michael and Christian

    Amsterdam thru a different lens

Christian was a wonderful host and told us tons of interesting facts about Amsterdam and it’s history. He brought us to areas not mentioned in guidebooks and pointed out numerous things we would have missed on our own. Christian didn’t hesitate to answer all our questions, even when we strayed from the topic being discussed. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a knowledgeable guide and a different view of Amsterdam !

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for having joined me on this walking tour away from the masses! Glad you enjoyed the mix of places and information. All the best, Christian

    Hidden Historical Spots

Michael gave us a very informative and personal tour. We learned about important landmarks but many other beautiful hidden spots not even familiar to locals. The history of Amsterdam is so interesting and Michael left us wanting to learn more! Will certainly book again next time I’m in Amsterdam

Response from the operator: Thank you, Lorraine! It was wonderful to see you again after having met you in Barcelona a while back! Glad you also enjoyed our off-the-beaten-track Amsterdam tour with the hidden courtyards and other highlights. All the best to you and your granddaughter! Michael

What a great tour and guide!

We just did this tour with Michael. He was an excellent guide. He showed us 2 little secret side streets that were lovely. Basically took us thru parts of the NINE STREETS and the JORDAN area. These areas are just awesome. Quiet, pretty, with lots of little shops and cafes. But before that he took us thru Dam square and nearby places and explained their history... my sister in law and I really really liked it. Michael knew so much about the history of Amsterdam and the surrounding areas. He also did not rush.Take their tour, you will be so glad you did.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Lynda, for this wonderful 5 star review! It was a pleasure meeting you both and sharing my passion for the Jordaan with you - away from the busy center of Amsterdam! Take care and all the best, Michael

Explore hidden streets with friends: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Explore hidden streets with friends cost?

    +

Prices start at $31 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Explore hidden streets with friends take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Explore hidden streets with friends worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Explore hidden streets with friends?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Explore hidden streets with friends suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Explore hidden streets with friends?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Explore hidden streets with friends start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
