Known as the only primeval mangrove forest in Hue city, Ru Cha deserves to be the most unique tourist place in Hue city. It was surrounded by Tam Giang Lagoon – one of the biggest Lagoons in Viet Nam. Ru Cha was named after the typical trees here which grew along the lagoon aiming to prevent salt water intrusion. In autumn, all Cha leaves turn yellow which makes the natural landscapes here more beautiful and stunning. In the middle of Ru Cha, there’s a temple, a gazebo for sightseeing, and the only house living there for taking care of the forest. Especially, there are many “Cong” Caves on the ground with different shapes which are really weird and interesting. Only when standing in the gazebo, can visitors see the whole view of Tam Giang Lagoon – the largest lagoon in the South East Asia region. Harmonizing yourself with nature will bring you an unforgettable feeling ever.

Escape Hue city for just half a day to experience nature and local life in the countryside
At first, I was hesitant to book this experience because there weren’t many existing reviews. However, my friend and I were eager to visit some of the nature sites in Hue — and are so glad we went through with the tour! The tour is good value for money as I couldn’t imagine visiting these sites and organising the experience without a guide. Our tour guide, Long, was highly informative and walked and talked us through each of the places we visited. It was refreshing to experience some of the lesser-visited sites, including a local village. The boat ride and fishing on Tam Giang Lagoon was a highlight of the tour. Although we visited during off-peak season, the lagoon is still beautiful and grandiose. We managed to catch one fish after enticing them with our drumming sounds. The tour ended with a light meal on the water, aboard a pontoon in the middle of the lagoon. The locals were extremely welcoming and hospitable, sharing stories about their life and the area. We ended the day looking out across the lagoon to admire the scenery, and played with the pontoon’s adorable resident pet dog and cats.

How far in advance should I book Experience Hue: Sunset at Tam Giang Lagoon?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hue can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hue and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Hue?
+
On Outty we rank every Hue experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hue: Imperial City Walk, Motorbike Tour & Private Car Options, Hue city Deluxe Group Tour (Daily Tour-12 pax max), Hai Van Pass Motorbike Private Tour with Mister T Easy Rider. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hue?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hue?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
