To preface, I will say...
To preface, I will say that Barbara is an amazing guide. She was very helpful, attentive, and gave a lot of knowledge. This is a VERY long day. You’ll start at the Amigo Tours hostel where you’ll depart to Cholula. For us, this drive took 4 hours. There were a lot of road blocks, traffic jams, and my god does no one know how to merge lanes. Additionally, the drive to/from Mexico City will be the bumpiest ride of our life. No pothole will be left un-driven over. In Cholula, there is an optional steep walk up to the church, but it’s voluntary. From there, we go to another little church about 15 minutes away, then go to Puebla. We arrived in Puebla around 3 PM, which is when lunch was had. We had about 2-2.5 hours of free time to walk around and do whatever you please. Puebla is a big city, but the downtown area is very navigable and there’s lots of opportunities for shopping, eating, and exploring. We departed Puebla to go back to CDMX, and luckily the drive only took about 2.5 hours this time - so depending on the day, YMMV. Also important to note - bring a portable charger. None of the outlets in the bus work. If given the option again, I probably would’ve just spent the day exploring more of Mexico City than going to Puebla. It wasn’t a must see for me, but for some it may be. It’s all up to the person.
Response from the operator: Dear Jakob_T, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to know you appreciated the dedication and professionalism of your guide. We are sorry that some aspects of the experience did not fully meet your expectations, and we truly value your comments as they help us identify opportunities for improvement. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Greetings from the Trekzy Quality Team

Interesting tour of great architectural delights
A great tour to some very interesting places near Mexico City. A very serious road accident closed the road for a couple of hours but the guide and driver kindly extended the tour so we didn’t miss out. Great customer service.
Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are delighted to know you enjoyed the tour despite the unexpected road closure. We always do our best to adapt to unforeseen situations so our travelers can make the most of their day. We hope to welcome you again soon. Greetings from the Trekzy Quality Team

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City cost?
+
Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 42 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City?
+
Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Excursion to Cholula and Puebla from Mexico City start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
