What you'll see and do
Transportation will pick you up from your accommodation, preferably within the historic center of Cusco, and then depart for the community of Pacchanta, located at the foot of the Ausangate mountain range, 4,200 meters above sea level. In this community, we will have a nutritious breakfast (approximately at 7:30 a.m.) and head deep into the Andes Mountains to visit the seven beautiful Ausangate lagoons. Initially, we will hike 5 to 6 km. Upon reaching the first lagoon, our guide will perform a coca leaf ritual, where you can participate in the ritual to engage in conversation and establish a connection with Mother Earth. We will then continue this fascinating adventure by visiting other lagoons, located in the heart of the Andes Mountains, surrounded by wonderful wildlife and vegetation. The hike will be 10 km (approximately 5 hours). We will return to the community of Pacchanta to enjoy the hot springs and, later, enjoy our delicious lunch. We will return to Cusco around 7:00 p.m.

7 Lagunas hike
We were a party of 4 (2 couples) and we had an amazing experience on this tour. Alex was very patient with us and gave us the necessary breaks that we needed and encouragement to continue on our hike. It was a challenging course due to the distance and elevation. But we were able to successfully accomplish it. The pickup was exactly at the time it was mentioned.right at our hotel. The breakfast before the start of the hike was delicious! And so was the lunch at the end of our hike. Overall, the tour was well worth the day!!

A breathtaking hike, long drive
The Asugante hike is absolutely breathtaking. To spend time in this area feels sacred. I loved our guide because he respected the local people and knew a lot about the plants and animals of the region. I was very disappointed some other tourists did not respect the land and jumped in one of the lakes. Make sure you have protectionnfrom the sun and dirt. We did not use horses and we did this with our 5 year old daughter in 5 hours. She loved it. We had no issues with elevation but everyone is different. The restaurant in the village had nice food and they accomodated us being vegetarian. Please respect this land. Pick up trash and leave no trace. This is a village- the hike is actually around where they live. Youll see the walls build for their animals. I must add- we had a wonderful driver thankfully. BUT the drive from Cusco is brutal. 3+ hours of constant narrow turning roads where cars are trying to pass. The roads are so dangerous. The drive back is even longer because traffic. Whole experience was pick up at 5 am, home at 730pm. You should consider if you're child really would handle the drive ok. Our kiddo struggled with the car ride, not the hike.

Challenging but legit
Not a relaxing walk—it’s a high-altitude hike. Cold wind, thin air, steep paths. That said, the lakes are incredible, the guide had an oxygen tank just in case, and the Coca ceremony was authentic. Book it only if you are acclimated to Cusco's altitude.

Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private|: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| take?
+
Plan for about 14.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 90 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private|?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 14.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private|?
+
Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 14.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private|?
+

What languages is Excursion to Ausangate & 7 lakes with Coca Ceremony |Private| offered in?
+
