However, in 2018, the inner wholesale market (where the auctions and major seafood sales took place) was relocated to Toyosu Market, a modern facility in a different part of Tokyo. That said, the outer market at Tsukiji is still active and remains a must-visit spot for food lovers. You can find small restaurants, seafood vendors, and street food stalls selling fresh sushi, grilled seafood, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet), and other delicious treats. It’s a great place to experience Tokyo’s food culture without needing to wake up at dawn for an auction.
