How Tours of Sorrento made our trip to Sorrento extremely enjoyable

I contacted Tours of Sorrento about doing a tour of Pompeii, The Amalfi Coast and Capri. Serena got back fairly quickly, despite the fact that I sent the email at 8:30pm EST and it was 2:30am in Italy, with a detailed explanation of each tour. Serena was very helpful and accomodating to us as were the people that she sent for our tours. We did a private 1/2 day tour of Pompeii on our first day. Antonio picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Pompeii where we met our tour guide Marcella. She gave us a great tour and gave us a thorough description of the history of what happened there. When Antonio dropped us off at our hotel he told us of a marina close by that has plenty of great options for lunch. It was a homerun The following day we went to the Amalfi Coast. Because of a scheduling snafu we were upgraded to a private tour. Again, Antonio was our driver. On our way to the town of Amalfi we stopped at a ceramic factory/store. The merchandise was beautiful and we ended up buying a bistro table and an antipasto serving tray. After touring Amalfi and Positano, Antonio asked if we wanted to do a tour of an Olive Oil factory and a wine tasting. We asked if he knew of a "locals" place that was off the beaten path where we could go for lunch instead. He took us to a family run restaurant and we had a great lunch and experience. We had different fresh vegetables, mozzarella and bruschetta for the antipasto. For lunch it was ravioli that was made by the matriarch of the family. Desert followed and it was delicious. Two days later we did Capri and Luigi was our guide. Capri was amazing and looking down from the top of the mountain was spectacular. You can take a 13 minute chairlift ride to the top and see wild goats on the way up. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. The tour ends with a boat trip around the island. We were heading back to Rome the next day and instead of taking the local train to Naples, where we could get the fast train, we used Tours of Sorrento to take us directly to the Naples train station. Thank you to Serena and the crew for making our 5 days in Sorrento phenomenal.

Great tours but not a great experience with the management of the company

We had 4 different tours with this company (also operates as Cioffi Tours). Up front they were great to work with. The planning and communication was excellent. We worked with Serena who was fantastic in getting us scheduled to do the best activities during our stay in Sorrento. The guides were also terrific. One day when it looked like the Blue Grotto was going to be closed (as often happens) she suggested switching activities so that we had a better chance of seeing the Grotto. And she was right! It worked out perfectly. The reason for the 3* review instead of 5* is that we had an issue with one of the drivers on one of the tours and so we asked for a different driver for our last day. Unfortunately, they failed to honor our request and, as a result, we felt a bit uncomfortable and unsafe for a 4 hour drive.

This is a GEM of a Capri day trip….

Tiziana is a fabulous tour guide for the day although the morning is very fast-paced so keep an eye on her! She was fun, knowledgeable, professional and patient filled with recommendations and kindness. We saw the blue grotto, did the boat trip around the island (a must) and enjoyed the famous chairlift! Loved this trip…

Response from the operator: Thanks so much for your amazing review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such an amazing day in Capri with Tiziana! Glad you loved the boat tour too and the magical views from the chairlift. We hope to see you again soon for another unforgettable trip!

An awesome way to explore Capri

This was a great tour because we had a wonderful tour guide (Michele) that took us around to see the most we could see in a day. The group of 20 people was manageable and was the perfect size. Michele first met us at the pier entrance in the morning where they arranged for the high speed ferry to take us to Capri. We caught an 8:30 ferry and got there in about 50 mins. Once there, a mini bus first took us to the top of Capri (Anacapri) where we were given the option to take a chair lift (14 Euros extra) to take us all the way to the top (which we did) or explore and shop and gave us recommendations for lunch that worked for our schedule Next, after being in contact with his peers re: the Blue Grotto situation, he managed to get everyone in our group in to experience it first hand. The wait was more than an hour but well worth it since relatively few people can get in on any given day due to the water conditions. This was the highlight of our trip. Lastly he gave us the option of exploring the high end shopping district of Capri, or taking a one hour boat tour of the island, or returning to the port area to relax with food and drinks or enjoying the beach nearby. We decided to grab a drink and chill and went to the beach. The beach was not much to brag about but it does give you a chance to take swim in the Mediterranean. Overall a fantastic trip and day. I highly recommend this one.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re so glad to hear that Michele made your tour even more special! And we're thrilled that you enjoyed the program, have the chance to do a lot of things in one day. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on another unforgettable adventure!

Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide cost?

    +

Prices start at $230 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Exclusive Private Trip to Capri & Blue Grotto with a Top Guide start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

    +

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
