Knocked out by the Mekong
My two younger sisters and I travel well together. However in recent years we have been distracted by our own families and work and found ourselves living in different circles. We would see each other in passing. Last year our old mum died, aged 91, and in the gatherings that followed we agreed we needed to travel again. There was much discussion of where and how we would travel. We all agreed there must be adventure and exposure to cultures different from our own. Jill stumbled on Vietnam By Bike. Before you know it we were flying out of Sydney for Ho Chi Min City. Adventure quickly came in spades as we found ourselves immersed in the charming, refreshing and completely different community of the Mekong Delta. Our conduit to the Mekong community was our tour leader Daniel. He rode and strode the Mekong Delta fearing nothing and making every part of the land, its produce and its people accessible to us. The Mekong community was his support cast. They were more than welcoming. They ran out of houses, schools and shops to greet us and made us feel like we were the adventure in their lives. I don't think I have come across people who are more consistently happy. They grew their crops, built their traditional boats and maintained their uniquely designed homes, weaving it all together from the back of a motor bike, or directing it all from a strategically placed hammock. The bike riding was challenging and it was always a relief to see Hugh, the van driver, suddenly appear with cold water and fruit before collecting up us and our bikes and delivering us to the next stage of our adventure. I have enclosed a couple of photographs. One has me riding my bike over Daniel. The hard lesson was learnt. He did not take us down an incorrect route again. The other photograph is of me meeting a fellow traveler. If you are thinking about going on the Vietnam By Bike tour of the Mekong Delta, stop thinking about it, and just go.

One week guided E bike tour of the Mekong
Hands down one of the best holidays we’ve had in years. If you want to truly experience Vietnam, this is the way to do it. Vietnam by Bike delivered an unforgettable Mekong Delta cycling tour that was perfectly organised, immersive, and great fun. It’s without doubt one of the best ways to see this part of Vietnam. Our guide Daniel was exceptional. From visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels to a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), he shared fascinating insights with humour and ease — including an almost magical ability to cross Saigon’s busiest roads with nothing more than a smile and a wave. The next day we were collected by our wonderful driver Hui in a very comfortable van and driven out to the Mekong Delta, where excellent-quality Trek electric bikes were waiting. Most riding was on quiet back roads and village lanes, with some busier sections. The local Vietnamese people were patient, kind, and incredibly welcoming, even when our riding skills weren’t perfect. What makes this tour special is how deeply it connects you with everyday life in the Mekong. Stopping to watch harvesting or food preparation often turned into friendly conversations, thanks to Daniel’s relaxed, sunny manner and the openness of the locals. This is far more than just a bike tour in Vietnam — it’s also a boat tour, hopping between islands on ferries and barges; a food tour, with fresh, delicious local meals; and a stay in a variety of charming local hotels. Most of all, it’s a people-focused experience that showcases the warmth and generosity of the Vietnamese people. We’d do it again in a heartbeat and will be enthusiastically recommending Vietnam by Bike to friends and family looking for an authentic, active Vietnam adventure.

Unforgettable Bike Tour
We just completed a three-day cycling adventure from Saigon to Rach Gia and it was hands down the best bike tour we’ve ever done. The route was stunning with quiet backroads, lush countryside, and plenty of opportunities to connect with local culture along the way. What made the experience exceptional was our guide, Kim Ngoc Linh. He was knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout the journey. From sharing insights about Vietnam’s history and traditions to making sure we were comfortable and safe, he went above and beyond. But we mustn’t forget our excellent van driver, Tan. What a great backup provider. The organization of the tour was seamless, the bikes were in great condition, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. We finished the trip feeling both exhilarated and grateful for such a unique way to experience Vietnam.

Lythangloc and the Mekong Delta
Lythangloc provided the most unique tour of his home territory in the Mekong Delta. We experienced the real people of the Mekong. Loc ensured we had an expansive range of sights, foods and experiences from the region. If are after a bike tour that you will remember, i would certainly recommend loc and the Mekong bike tour

Cycling tour through the Enchanting Mekong Delta
My wife and I embarked on a 3-day cycling tour in the Mekong Delta, during which we spent 2 nights. Each day, we leisurely cycled approximately 32 kilometers along paved bike paths that meandered alongside narrow waterways, allowing us to explore areas off the beaten track. The terrain was flat and easy to navigate, with only the occasional encounter with motorcycles. The picturesque scenery was captivating, featuring small streams on one side and traditional farms on the other. Along the way, we discovered numerous charming villages with schools, quaint homestays, and inviting local restaurants. We were consistently welcomed with warm smiles and friendly greetings throughout our journey. We also enjoyed several boat trips along the wider stretches of the river. These excursions took place on small boats that accommodated about four passengers. We visited a floating market, dined at a tiny boat restaurant where 2 friendly women served us fresh fruit, and explored a river island where we indulged in a sumptuous feast for four, even though there were just two of us. During our journey, we made stops at both a Khmer and a Vietnamese pagoda, both of which were impressive in their own right. Our stay at the Vam Xang rustic was undoubtedly a highlight of the trip. It is arguably the most beautiful place we have ever experienced during our travels across six continents. The grounds, our room, and the food were simply exquisite. I highly recommend this accommodation.
