What you'll see and do

  1. Three Kings Monument

This monument features bronze statues of the three founders of Chiang Mai: King Mengrai (the city's founder), King Ramkhamhaeng of Sukhothai, and King Ngam Muang of Phayao. It stands as a proud symbol of Chiang Mai’s history and commemorates the alliance forged by these kings in the development of the city.

  2. Wat Phra Singh

One of the most famous temples within the old walled city. Dating back to the 14th century, Wat Phra Singh (Temple of the Lion Buddha) is named after the revered Buddha image housed within. It’s one of the finest examples of classic Lanna temple architecture.

  3. Wat Phan Tao

One of the oldest temples in Chiang Mai, originally built in the late 14th century. Wat Phan Tao is known for its stunning Lanna-style viharn (ordination hall), made entirely of teakwood atop a stone base.

  4. Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara

A striking temple ruin also known as the “Temple of the Great Stupa.” Construction lasted from 1391 to 1475, and although partially collapsed by an earthquake in 1545, it remained the tallest structure in Chiang Mai for centuries. Wat Chedi Luang once housed the famous Emerald Buddha, now located in Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.

  5. Wat Lok Molee

Situated just outside the old city walls, this is one of Chiang Mai’s older temples. It features one of the largest and most impressive chedis in the city and holds the ashes of several kings from the Mengrai dynasty, rulers of the Lanna Kingdom until the Burmese invasion in 1558.

    30 minutes here

  6. Chang Phuak Gate Night Market

After the temple visits, we’ll head to Chang Phuak Night Market, where you'll get a real taste of local life. Unlike the more touristy Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, this market is mostly frequented by locals. Known for its lively atmosphere and countless food stalls, Chang Phuak is the perfect place to experience Northern Thai street food culture at its most authentic. You’ll sample delicious treats like (if available) Khao Soi, Thai-style grilled satay, Sai Oua sausage, and of course, mango sticky rice.

Outstanding evening tour…

Our guide was exceptional. From taking care of every little operational issue and making sure we were happy. He was also very knowledgeable about Buddhism and the temples we visited. We were very interested and he gave us a great lecture on Buddhism and made these temples and this faith really come alive. There were lots of night photography opportunities. The food options were amazing…and we ate lots! A VERY fun evening!

Response from the operator: Sawadee kha Craig, Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your positive review and it was great to have you on our tour. We look forward to welcoming you again!

Great way to see temples at night

This is a great introduction to some of the key temples in Chiang Mai, and they look really beautiful at night. Our guide, Tikky, was extremely knowledgable and we learnt a lot. We started with an overview of the layout of Chiang Mai which was perfect for our first night. We had a delicious dinner at one of the quieter food markets. With our tuk tuk driver, we felt we were in safe hands.

Response from the operator: Sawadee kha Katie, Thank you so much for your amazing review! We’re thrilled to hear that Tikky made such a positive impact on your experience. We hope you’ll join us again on your next visit to Chiang Mai!

Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chiang Mai.

How much does Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai cost?

+

Prices start at $2565 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chiang Mai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai take?

+

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chiang Mai is not rushed.

Is Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Chiang Mai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chiang Mai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chiang Mai and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Evening Tuk-Tuk Escape in Chiang Mai start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chiang Mai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Chiang Mai?

+

On Outty we rank every Chiang Mai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Thai Cooking Class at Organic Farm in Chiang Mai, Full Day Thai Cooking at Farm (Chiang Mai), Thai and Akha Cooking Class in Chiang Mai. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Chiang Mai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Chiang Mai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
